This affects us all

Well, I got a call last night seeking advice from recent college grads (class of 2022). Odds are the recent grads in question voted like @JeffT818 for utopia and the removal of Trump (TDS). The only difference between Jeff and them is Jeff has experienced Carter (and forgotten) while they are young and idealistic. Reality is beginning to hit them and hit them hard as they learn their votes have consequences.

Apparently, it is happening often enough that I was asked if person X should start their job with Meta in Austin, TX sooner than the currently scheduled August 15th. Why? Long ago accepted job offers to new grads are being pulled at an alarming rate. So, the question is should they get in while they can. Of course, I said they should start ASAP for lots of reasons. I was then asked whether the economy would bounce back soon. The answer is of course not as Biden squandered the Trump economic boom with handouts and massive, wasteful spending and now has inflation SOARING. Nobody in the Biden regime wants to curtail spending or govern responsibly (nice vote, Jeff!) so the CURE will be rapidly increasing interest rates which will curtail economic activity.

So, yet another voting demographic is learning the hard way that Democrats hate them.

they will throw Biden under the bus but it is really socialists that are running the country behind the scenes (Obama is deeply involved here) and their policies are an abysmal failure…

That is how liberals do it! Hey Joe S. - you should thank Trump and the 50 Republicans for being against @JeffT818 s build back better agenda.

Wow @JeffT818 @stoneaxe27 @nthomp - you guys sure support a disaster in Brain-dead.

A massive increase in the interest rate today. As Chairman Powell says: "Clearly today's 75 basis point increase is an unusually large one and I do not expect moves of this size to be common. "

The increase is unusually large because the FED has been caught flat-footed to the massive and persistent inflation brought about by your party's radical spend everything and screw American energy policies. IMO, this is too little, too late. They will increase some more and the economy will enter a deep recession. Why deep? Because your radicals won't change their policies which got us here in the first place. Obviously, we need Trump to save the US economy a third time.

Retail sales "Unexpectedly" drop. For you Trump deranged types, Trump's economic numbers always beat the experts numbers "unexpectedly". In contrast, your guy Biden always "unexpectedly" fails to reach the experts numbers.

You guys keep hiding. I completely understand why you are afraid to show your face around here - with the exception of Jeff who wonders why Irish gas prices being up 10 percent in 2 weeks is relevant.

I can’t believe we are still reporting every time someone has the common cold. Unless you have severe immune system issues, take some Tylenol and we’ll see you in a few days.

I couldn't believe Steve Stricker was forced out of the latest Senior Tour major due to a positive COVID test despite the fact that he felt fine. Of course, that jack-weed BIden made me take a COVID test in order to be eligible to return to the US from Ireland. The hilarious part is a friend took a test on Saturday (was negative), flew Sunday, and by Wednesday was COVID positive in the USA. Great preventive measure!

Brandon Alert !

Mary Anne was out yesterday looking for dry dog food.

Their was NONE at Stop & Shop nor at Walmart ! Dog food in the USA not in TWO huge stores !1

Were you guys searching for alternatives for the upcoming food shortage or do you actually have a dog?

Brandon's baby formula factory was shut down again too. I should have filled my luggage with Irish formula as their shelves were fully stocked :)

Instead I got whiskey, chocolate, and tea.

Biden doesn’t understand why people deciding between gas and food aren’t celebrating his economy. The left’s lack of awareness is glaring.

Going to be ugly for the Dems this fall.

Yeah, it is getting bad. I drive a pretty small car 8 miles to work each day. I was asked by my daughter how much I spend in gas. Well, at 33 mpg it is $1.50 each way! That's pretty incredible considering it is a short commute with options to avoid traffic.

Joe is KILLING those with lesser means. That lady in Texas was the first R to win there since 1870! The Cubs win titles more often.

And now the DOW is below 30k and slumping. I'm sorry @JeffT818 , I'm not buying your "I can retire" story when every metric is bad across the board. Yet, TDS wins the day for you!!

“Kids are resilient.”
“Babies and parents are resilient.”

Dogs are next. The same party thinks asking adults to have an ID, or to stand in line for a half hour to vote, is just too much.

I moved to a 50% cash position prior to this year. My portfolio is down about 13% for the year. Even if the markets decline by 40%, I can absorb a 20% decline in my portfolio. Inflation means I am just saving less than before.

I am doing fine.

Good move on the cash. But, cash makes ZERO. Since your TDS inspired vote, the stock market is down. The cost of everything is UP big time. You put on a strong facade, but old Joe is screwing you up (deservedly). You paying cash for your second home? Hope so because interest rates will only continue to go up. You might get a bargain if you catch someone trying to flip something......

With all of the current and future layoffs, you should take one for the next generation and retire since "I am doing fine"

I plan to pay mostly cash for the second home maybe take out a small mortgage. My current home is almost paid off. On average a bear market last about a year and then takes about 2.5 years to recover back to where it was before.

The economy could go one of two ways:

The fed gets inflation under control rather quickly and then everyone's portfolio's would rebound quickly.
This would be fine by me.

The fed does not get inflation under control and mortgage rates move from 6% to 9-10%. If this happens, my portfolio will take a hit. However, I will take a portion of my cash and invest in long term bonds and earn a decent rate for my retirement years. Also, the housing market will take a big hit and I will be able to purchase my second home at a much lower price. I will also lose money on my current home but I would be happy with that tradeoff.

No matter how the future unfolds, I am making plans to proceed in a prudent manner.

The Fed can't control or correct current economic policy that is directly caused by Brandon and his masters, which is the destruction of the fossil fuel industry.

Dem policy always increases the gap between the rich and poor, and sure seems to make more people poor. @JeffT818 has always seemed like a good guy, and I understand why he doesn’t like Trump. But man, it’s a good thing he doesn’t have kids or grandkids. Especially grandkids that need baby formula.

Biden has been an absolute disaster on every level. Shocking.

The FED as I laid out yesterday is well behind the curve. They are late to realize the destruction Brandon and Democrats have wrought - too bad Jeff wasn’t there to advise them last year. As BWill pointed out, Brandon is only tripling down on his failed policies. So, the FED will attack inflation hard and kill the economy.

@JeffT818 - the Feds rate hikes can only work with Trump in office since Trump has pro-America and pro-growth policies. With Brandon in office, we are in for a hard recession. It’s already very ugly and Brandon basically called the American people mentally ill today. Certainly anybody who voted for Brandon qualifies.

I will never defend Biden. He is indeed a terrible president. He is much worse than I ever thought he would be.

However, Trump is dangerous because he is such a profound narcissist. He loved the chaos on 1/6 because it made him feel good that people were so upset on his behalf. He is motivated by love of Trump not love of country. As far as I know, there is not one person who worked with Trump on his White House staff that has anything good to say about the man. This is in contrast to the high regard most staff had for Pence. If Trump is the nominee in 24, I will pass on him again.

You and I probably agree on 95% of things. I'm not a Trump fan, and hope he fades away. DeSantis should be the GOP leader moving forward. You can tell the left (and the media) is terrified of him. They know he would crush Biden, Kamala, etc.

I would vote for Trump over Biden again, if it comes to that. I just hope it doesn't.

Cash is a good move? I guess it’s the best of the worst but inflation doesn’t help at all….unless you are waiting to pick up some bargains when the bottom false out…

The best move is US bonds indexed to the inflation rate that are paying over 9% but you can only buy $15k per year. Unless you trade options, cash is one of the best options for now. I will eventually lengthen the duration of my fixed income portfolio.

You are stuck on stupid and truly deranged.

All presidents are narcissists. Trump is no different. But, his love for this country was and is obvious. Many prefer the Desantis packaging to Trump packaging (myself included), but policy wise they are pretty much the same.

You make decisions based on emotions and you are emotionally delicate. It’s sad you will continue to vote for “terrible“ presidents based on emotions. But, that is what makes freedom loving Americans so special, We just want a president who gets out of our way.

You also ignore the people on this board who have had first hand interactions with Trump. They are all positive.

Cash 6 months ago was a solid move. But we agree cash generates zero return and gets eaten alive by even 2 percent Trump inflation Let alone 10 percent Biden inflation. It all depends what he does with it now. Keeping it in cash is a losers bet.

Timing the market is also a fools game.

I did not realize that there are posters on this board who worked in the White House. They have not identified themselves. Meeting Trump at some social gathering means nothing. Trump has a history of treating mostly everyone who deals with him poorly.

You are the one who is blind. Trump was pressuring Pence to commit an illegal act on 1/6. Everyone agrees that it was illegal even the attorney who originated the idea. If Pence would have done Trump's bidding, the country would have been in chaos. This is the man you keep defending.
