Current events

It’s no wonder we have so many nutty koolaid drinkers breaking down the day after the election. With “brilliant” analysis like this, people could be led to believe the tooth fairy is real.

Right now the Republicans have 216 seats in the House and are leading in 5 of the 12 uncalled races. (need at least 218) Not much of a margin. I hope they have some good people already working on strategy and organization for 2026 cause the other side will.

Good governance will help but the midterms usually go toward the party out of power. My guess is the 1st 100 days of Trump are going to be a whopper of activity but the Dems are going to fight him every step of the way. He needs the majority after 2026, I hope he gets it.

Which House seats are being vacated by Adminstration appointment? So far, I think it's Stefanik and Waltz... others?

Unlike with the Senate, my understanding is those seats will remain unfilled until the next General Election. Is that May in most states?

I'm sure you can do a Google search and find a healthy list of election law changes since 2020... if you really care.
I am sure you won't find changes in the states that were challenged 4 years ago. The claim of cheating is all BS, even the Republicans Sec. of State and Security Chief said so. Yet you guys actually believe it. Even though only Trump's line on the ballots was cheated on, and the down ballot races were not? This election, miracle of miracles, no cheating. LOL

Election cheating has existed as long as elections have existed. Does anyone reasonably dispute that?

LOL. Cheney, Kristol. Ryan.

What induces someone to take such extreme views? Part of it is that no new information ever seems to penetrate the Never Trumper’s mind. Over the weekend, The Bulwark’s Bill Kristol repeated the “losers and suckers” hoax on X. This smear, first perpetuated by The Atlantic, that Trump refused to visit the Aisne-Marne cemetery in France has been denied on the record by a host of Trump officials who were with him at the time. It never happened. But in Kristol’s world, it did. And maybe it’s necessary for Kristol to persist in this delusion. How else can he convince himself that Trump represents a unique threat to American democracy? How else can the monster of his imagination be plausible in real life? The smears, no matter how implausible or how false, must all be true.

That’s the mindset, too, of former GOP lawmakers like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who never heard a Trump hoax that was too outlandish to be questioned or verified. In their minds, every bad thing that’s ever been said about Trump on MSNBC or in the pages of The Washington Post is 100 percent true, no matter what the facts really are or what new details come to light.

The eventual result of so little reality breaking through to these people is that they lose their grip on basic political realities and beclown themselves in public. Jonah Goldberg, for example, thought it would be a good idea to post on X that he wrote in Paul Ryan on his presidential ballot. The purpose of writing in Paul is not just to display your Never Trump bone fides, but also to signal that you still long for a bygone era when Ryan was considered a Republican “young gun” and the GOP happily played the role of managed opposition to the Democrats. Ryan himself still longs for that era. He even thinks it could make a comeback. Last year Ryan went on CBS and declared that if Republicans nominate Trump, “we’re gonna lose.”

This is one of the most perplexing phenomenons of mass psychology I've ever witnessed. I guess everyone has some sort of bible to cling to.

Bill Kristol doesn’t give two craps about American servicemen. He is a complete POS who would have us permanently fighting in the Middle East …a vile individual that is America last.

Another one I wasn't suspecting. To be fair I wasn't expecting JD Vance, and scratched my head over him initially, and that didn't turn out so bad for Trump.

One thing that's clear, Trump is picking a number of people who are comfortable getting in front of a camera and making their case.

LOL! Dentist told me I didn't need that root canal. Thank you Trump.
Send me your x-ray and I will get you 3 additional consultations for free !
1. An aggressive Dentist.
2. A conservative Dentist.
3. A longtime Dental Hygienist.

I have received 2 root canals, the same teeth twice. First hit in the mouth by a baseball. Second the same teeth by Mary Anne, who struck and cracked those teeth during her nightmare !

I open my arms to you, you can thank President Trump and his New Age for All Americans !

WTF? Matt Gaetz? Completely unimpressive choice by Trump. He’s a mental lightweight, IMHO, and lacks the qualifications for the position.

DoD Secretary Hegseth? I can appreciate that Pete fought in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Trump is taking some flak for that one, but Hegseth loves the military and he understands the purpose of our military. He will be excellent at restoring our military to what it should be and not separating groups through DEI. Degrees from Ivy’s. Very bright person. Shallow people will just say “Fox & Friends weekend anchor”.

John Thune is the new Senator Majority Leader. A Mitch man. MAGA does not win this one.

So you TDSers are happy that you think the Election Winner a week ago has a hiccup !

In your opinion did Mitch help American citizens ?

I thought Hegseth was an ok choice. I just always saw him as arrogant on TV. He will probably do a good job.

I really like the Gaetz pick. Trump will not need to tell him who to look at for doing criminal behavior. MG will look right into all of the right directions.

Get your popcorn ready.

Ukraine war ending, how with Trump.

1. Putin is financing the war from energy selling.
2. Europe changers to buying US LNG for energy needs. Russia going broke.
3. Russia wants to go home.
4. Ukraine knows it can't win, ever.
5. US and Europe pledge billions to rebuild Ukraine.

The left and TDS people hate this pick, so that tells me all I need to know.

There were better MAGA choices for AG, IMO. This is almost as bad as giving M Taylor Greene a Cabinet position.
The rest of the picks seem ok.

Gaetz just resigned from his House seat, Apparently FL law lets the governor replace an open seat. If so, that is good news on Waltz as well. No idea on what rules are in NY.

ps. I am still trying trying to research Gaetz, but the one thing that is obvious is it is a big FU to the Justice Department from Trump. They have been abominable, even in Trump's 1st term so ...

I caught up on the news now. Yes. The Tulsi pick is solid. She will also get to the root of why she got placed on the terror watch list and clean house.

My truly uninformed understanding is you can’t replace a House member who resigns. Only a Senator. Anyone know for sure?
