You focused on the money as opposed to the failure, the same as your nee far left teammate who liked your post. The public school system as it sits today is failing. Administrative staff has grown significantly and of negative benefit to the students. The kids who don’t go to traditional public schools are far more literate. You can’t handle that, so as a good lib, all you can do is say it’s stupid. Feelings over facts.
It is hardly surprising that homeschooling generates superior academic results in literacy. You have highly invested parents providing education individually. I know someone who is currently homeschooling their middle school kids and plans to homeschool through high school. I think she will have problems with high school since she has no aptitude in science or math. We will see.
Public schools have 30 kids in a class with a percentage of those kids coming from very dysfunctional backgrounds. Some students don’t even get enough to eat. What do you expect?

The post will eventually get community noted. That is a list from 2022 that Pfizer still doesn’t accept, even as those were all complaints from people who got jabbed with their vac.
There are clearly a ton of variables involved. We need to fix our public schools, before home or private schools becomes the only reasonable options.
More math and science, less focus on “social issues”.

The biggest variable is the growth of administrative positions, the radicalization of teachers unions, what they don’t teach anymore and the lowering of expectations from both a grading standpoint from school districts, as well as the culture that accepts the lowered expectations and makes kids hard to educate.
Trump’s idea to just send education back to the states isn’t going to fix much of anything. In blue states it will make it worse. Right now Illinois has a few female Dem reps not even from Chicagoland trying to push a bill through that deeply regulates homeschooling. They worked themselves into a lather because of one instance of a family being caught not educating their kids…for many years. So like all other outliers, these Dems think they need to do something to the vast majority of homeschoolers who have been successful while the public school system gets worse. Feelings over facts. The home schoolers pay taxes that support the local school system. Our education system needs a massive overhaul.
