..and in other news

Even Texas A&M is woke these days. I remember that from way back, like a couple of weeks ago.

and in other news: NY apparently has a special election pending to replace Elise Stefanik except it hasn't been scheduled yet. From what I read there will not be a primary; the local party chairs will pick the Republican and Dem candidates. At least on the Republican side, there appears to be a lot of interested candidates.

In Florida, they have primaries on Jan 28, with the special elections on April 1. Florida will choose 2 congress members.

How do I sound like a Democrat? Vivek told everyone what Indian CEOs obviously think. Pretty hilarious that people are offended about something that if they took one minute to think about his overall message, the response would be “ya, that’s probably true.” But a lot of people have been programmed to be offended.

We have all complained about a declining America. I’m supposed to act like all of the things we have complained about don’t exist because Trump won? GMAFB.

Homelessness is up 18% YoY in America. Men are playing women’s sports and joining sororities. We brag about crime being down while people are burning to death and getting stabbed in the subways. We have a welfare society where a significant % of ther population do not produce anything of value. If you think things are fantastic, I don’t know what to tell you.

If you guys really want change, you have to be willing to engage in uncomfortable conversations and have to be willing to accept uncomfortable truths. Indian people are more likely to hire Indian people, and an Indian CEO told you why. Instead of dismissing it, you should probably listen.
You don’t understand my post. Vivek is wrong, because he thinks people focused on sports are focused incorrectly. I can name all sorts of very bright folks who played and “focused” on sports. Illinois has NASA astronaut for starters. Doctors, PT’s, people at the Ivy’s who played sports end up doing well. RDS was captain of his baseball team. Susan Rice played softball at Boston College, etc. He doesn’t understand that particular issue very well. It sounds more like these Indian CEO’s may be the ones who have a problem with race.

The rest of your post is a distraction from the conversation you originally created regarding Vivek.

That was such a tiny part of his overall message, and a very strange part to focus on. He didn’t say people shouldn’t play sports. He was implying we should celebrate excellence in school as much as we do sports, if not more.

He said much more than that, and a lot of it you would have agreed with if hadn’t made comments about Indian CEOs. If he just talked about us being a country that celebrates mediocrity, that’s a position that we have all talked about on this board.

I understand your position perfectly. You want to dismiss his overall message by picking apart a small piece of his post.

Now get back to telling me that he’s terrible while also complaining about safe spaces and woke schools.

I don’t want to hear about how more kids are making honor roll. It’s almost like it became easier to make honor roll, despite kids test scores declining.

Interesting who liked this post. They know math scores are plummeting but are still upset about Vivek’s comments. We probably do need to look at what we are focusing on this country.

Sports can always be a part of our society. Education should be a big part too, and we have failed there in recent years.

Our schools have safe spaces and counseling services for weak kids? They can’t handle election results but you believe we don’t have a culture of babying kids and young adults?

Very exciting to know that everything has changed since you posted this 3 weeks ago.
You don’t read very well and are willfully misrepresenting what I am stating because you didn’t quite vote straight ticket and you look more like you’re going straight jacket, Mr. I’msoindependent.

We celebrate Valedictorians. We still have Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude recognition. There is a metric crap ton of educational scholarships available that dwarf athletic scholarship money across all levels of college. I’m not going to get back to saying Vivek is terrible, because I never said he was terrible. I said he was wrong. Is this really the best you can do? Did stonedaxe steal your password? Have all the Venezuelan gangs been deported from your neighborhood?

Regret? Lol.

This is similar to what Australia did when I worked on a visa there - an equivalent Australian salary had to be paid in order for one to be issued to me (filling a role that only a cleared US citizen could do). Make it expensive and the abuse will be very limited

Thank God I voted for DJT

I just finished reading the entirety of Sterling’s thread. I was going to place it here, but you essentially beat me to the punch. It’s great info.

An Associates Degree from a community college is enough to give a green card. Asinine. Another ignorant statement.
Dr. Jill teaches at a Community College !

I am sure she is an inspiration to her students !

Has anyone been interested to find and examine her Doctoral paper for plagiarism ?

So let’s allow anyone from a foreign country attend there by giving a green card to them.

Have you interviewed any young people in recent years? I have, and I talk to HR people on a regular basis. We haven’t even mentioned some of the changes that people have seen in recent years. I’m going to make some generalizations here, but I’ve seen this play out, and have heard about it several times….

You know what foreign workers don’t ask in an interview?

- How many days a week do I have to come in the office? This is often the first question young people ask now.
- How many vacation days do I get in my first year?
- Can you tell me about your DEI program? Do you have any ERGs that I can join?

They are much more likely to ask….

- what type of work are you looking to execute and when can I start?

Foreign workers never ask you to use their pronouns (never listed on foreign resumes, often on young Americans’ resume) or ask for special accommodations. The ones that are here to improve their lives are thinking about when they can begin and how they can get to the next level.

HR departments and CEOs don’t want to hire people that are going to cause problems and make demands. Those things are much more likely to happen with an American kid coming from a broken system than they are a foreign worker that just wants to work. American workers are much more litigious too, and much more likely to go after a company for something minor (remember the obsession with microagressions? That’s mainly an American thing.)

Thinking Vivek is wrong is ignoring someone that has heard these conversations from CEOs, owners, etc.

These articles wouldn’t exist if this wasn’t an issue here.

But, it’s the culture.

Not once have I said people from other countries perform better. It’s almost like there are other factors that cause companies to hire foreign workers. Vivek told you one of the factors, and you are dismissing him. This is all so hilarious.

MAGA Nov 2024 - “Elon and Vivek are going to clean this shit up. Less worrying about feelings and more transparency. More efficiency.”

MAGA Dec 2024 - “Vivek was transparent and I don’t like it. He’s wrong. Whaaaaa”

Just to be clear, we had young people that were incapable of going to class or work after the election didn’t go their way, but you also think we don’t have a culture problem?

People that come here for the right reasons don’t give a shit about stuff like that, and are just here to work. Companies like people that put their heads down and work, instead of looking for reasons they shouldn’t have to.

Now I’m sure I’ll hear about how hard our young people work. Meanwhile our young people are looking for the newest mouse wiggling technology.
