Well, the political hacks in the current administration and corrupt DOJ put a lot of protestors and trespassers in prison. I bet most of them with no prior criminal record. The majority are no threat to society, but it makes leftwing nuts like you feel good.
No prior criminal record is immaterial. Mangione doesn't have a prior criminal record, I guess they should let him walk. They sure were a threat to the Police and Guards they beat and assaulted. They should be locked up just for breaking windows and crapping in the Capitol. If they were immigrants we would have endless posts on here about how lawless they are.

There was a fair way to decide their fates, it was used to convict or acquit them in the first place. The U.S. Justice system was used, it the best in the world. Why in the Hell would you think that having a political hack like Pam Bondi appoint set up a panel would be less political then the U.S. court system?
Fifteen hundred people charged for the January 6 riot. That's a political action if there ever was one. It's not like they attacked the capitol building with tanks and then burned it down.

Here's the fair way to decide the fates of more than 1,500 individuals charged in the situation. Have the Attorney General set up a panel of three well-respected judges to review each case separately and make recommendations. Then, follow the consensus of the judges unless extraordinary circumstances are present.

That would take politics out of it and put precise reasoning into it. Who could object to that?
