What is a worse scenario than the sadist Assad regime, and its close ties to Russia giving Russia Naval and Air bases, and a conduit for Iran's evil? It is a win, stop trying so hard to see the down-side.
Agree with stoney on this one. Assad was absolutely hated by everyone except Iran, Russia, and Hezbollah. That should tell us something right there, not to mention killing civilians with nerve gas and chlorine.

Another lib who does not understand the FBI Director is not signed up for a 10 year term. Why does the media willfully lie? The FBI Director is limited to 10 years maximum in that position.

No, you are wrong. It is a 10 year term. Can be fired sooner for cause. Can be extended longer like Mueller.

Definitely some short-term gains from a US perspective, but at what cost in the long run? The answer is we don't know and similar happenings in the region have proved very expensive (and not just in terms of money, and with most of the cost falling on the people who ostensibly were 'helped'). Assad being gone is a good thing as far as that goes, but I hesitate seeing it as any kind of wider scale win until we see what coalesces in the power vacuum. It might turn out good, it might not.

I guess you two prefer the Assad sadist regime stay in power and help Russia and Iran . Reasonable position.🤪
I prefer every country and every person on earth to be able to live in freedom. Perhaps you could do something other than your normal grazing and actually address the multiple factions involved and how it’s unlikely a US type democracy happens.

What is the personal issue, characteristic that caused @stoneaxe27 to believe the streets were empty in 2021? Was it over trust in govt entities?

Florida saw 118 million visitors from out of state in 2021. LOL

What do you guys think the drones on the east coast are?

I tend to think they are craft being tested by the U.S. government / DOD. Reminds me of the early sightings of the stealth bomber before the government admitted their existence.
I would like to believe that, but they are scaring the people. If they were testing, it was successful and they should stop now. Unfortunately, they are expanding where they are “testing”. So your theory is possible. Could be testing for crowd control if something goes fishy on Jan 20.

Another theory is it’s Chinese/Iranian technology and they’ve also figured out how to hide their landing spots/mothership. Must have very sophisticated jammers. This theory is possible. It’s also believable, because Biden Admin let a balloon(s) scan our entire country prior to shooting it down once it went over the ocean. It still seems crazy though

The third theory is it’s aliens. Not sure it’s believable, but we will need Capt Steve Hiller and David Levinson to step up and save our collective butts, if true.

I lean towards it being China or Iran.

Social media nuttiness. Iran is not capable of defending their own country right now from air attack as Israel has taken out Iran's air defense systems. I don't think they have the capability nor the priority to fly drones over NJ rather than rebuilt their home defenses. Plus, if a foreign country was behind the drones, the US would be taking them down and at a minimum showing concern. The US isn't. I would think the US is testing.
I was only mentioning everything I've heard. I have some insight into how the US military tests things. It's not that way. They wouldn't even conduct "tests" over a wildlife sanctuary, much less a populated area. It could be they are gov't assets, but if so, they aren't testing. I mentioned the spy balloon because the US doesn't always shoot down adversarial assets in our air space promptly, at least the current administration. If you enjoy conspiracies, maybe it's a five eyes end around of US law. Could be lots of things. I'm like Rilla, I know better than to place blind faith in the gov't.

That is a personal issue, characteristic to not trust. Covid was a world-wide pandemic, to blame that on the US govt is nutty.

Why would I trust the govt? They got exposed during COVID. Remember when they masked toddlers and told people to stay 6 feet apart. They made it all up.

You blindly trust your govt that shut down schools, parks, and beaches but left liquor stores and dispensaries open. A little healthy distrust doesn’t hurt anyone.

Fauci promised a virus, funded sketchy virus research, and then did everything to hide what caused the lab leak. He was part of the US govt.

Imagine still thinking COVID came from a bat. Imagine thinking I care what the person that said “the roads were empty” says about any of this.

The former seems much more unlikely to me, although there are reports of people seeing them, in groups iirc, heading out to sea leading people to think they are ship-based. That in turn causes some people to suspect Iran, which has plenty of motivation to come after the US with drones.

I'm just now picking up on that story.

The DoD has a lot of places to test such things much more discretely, and safely, than over populated coastal areas. My understanding is the craft are rather large, not like little hobby drones, so if one were to malfunction and crash into someone's home or something, it would be pretty bad.

It would seem more like they are being deployed for some purpose someone thinks is important enough to risk civilian injury rather than a new system being tested.

That no one seems to have an answer to what they are makes me think either they are not "ours", or they are the next phase of the intelligence agencies turning the Eye of Sauron inward on the citizenry. The former seems much more unlikely to me, although there are reports of people seeing them, in groups iirc, heading out to sea leading people to think they are ship-based. That in turn causes some people to suspect Iran, which has plenty of motivation to come after the US with drones.

People have also speculated that they are commercial, essentially mapping areas for drone-based deliveries and/or testing the delivery vehicles (one possible explanation for their size). If the former it seems like the flights would be during the day to get better image data of hazards. And in either case I'd think if they were commercial it would be much easier to determine what they are.

Possibly we'll find out in the latter part of January or shortly after. Of course if you look around enough you'll find the conspiracy theorists alleging the deep state is trying to accomplish something before the new sheriff hits town bringing a different philosophy concerning the roles of various facets of the executive branch. I've also heard that since the New Jersey sightings are in the vicinity of one of Trump's properties, that it might be the USSS doing something. But that doesn't explain alleged sightings in other regions.

It's an interesting story to follow, but most likely the explanation will be rather pedestrian in the end. A person would think the gov't would make providing an explanation to soothe people a top priority, but it wasn't that long ago they let a so-called spy balloon travel coast-to-coast before doing anything about it, so who knows.

After COVID, I don’t know how a person would think positively about our govt, and that govt looking to reassure people.

The fact that they aren’t saying anything, and are telling people not to worry, makes me believe it is our own government.

Some are showing videos of the drones spraying a liquid. Not sure if legit. But I don’t trust our govt, and don’t like this at all.

Don’t forget, COVID likely never happens without the US govt playing a role.
