A fair opinion.

The proposed pardons for the rioters who invaded the U.S. Capitol almost five years ago (can you believe it) can work both for and against President Trump, depending on how he handles the complex situation.

The fact that all of those prosecuted were ardent Trump supporters brings an emotional component to Mr. Trump's decision. It's tough to let the legal bus rollover folks who love you.

But justice is also in play here. The country simply cannot allow political violence. Most intelligent folks understand that. Therefore, no blanket presidential pardon should be issued.

Here's the fair way to decide the fates of more than 1,500 individuals charged in the situation. Have the Attorney General set up a panel of three well-respected judges to review each case separately and make recommendations. Then, follow the consensus of the judges unless extraordinary circumstances are present.

That would take politics out of it and put precise reasoning into it. Who could object to that?

The testimony is already on the record, so the process should move quickly. President Trump, of course, has the power to override decisions, but this gives him an opportunity to examine each case in a fair way.
Nancy in jail is the correct decision !

In the 70's the NJSP taught the safe use of the "choke hold" on recalcitrant individuals, by Troopers who had problems controlling anyone.
I never used it.

I only used it once in a road rage incident, when I was headed home. Other guy was going road rage on me, so I parked a mile from home and he came at me with a baseball bat. I subdued him from the bat, put him in the choke. He went out in just seconds. I left, I checked on him 10 minutes later, he was gone !

When I was bouncing in college and after, I never choked or punched anyone out. I would twist them to facing away and put them into a full nelson and pick them off the floor for a fast exit to the parking lot. Being carried away, tended to calm them down.
