Helluva year

While I think the general take on the Q1 GDP number is "don't panic ... yet" and a small decline that probably relates to structural reasons more than bad underlying conditions isn't a disaster, I'd prefer we cite to economists and not dubious pollsters with home invasion convictions for our #hottakes on the number.

The thing that's bad for Trump about this is that a bad Q2-Q3, which seem pretty likely, will mean that he gets the Trumpcession that will probably cripple much of his Presidency. His ace in the hole was always the strong economy from the first term. Being the person identified as most responsible for a recession in his first year back is not the best for him or the GOP.
That is your "dubious" pollster quoting something called the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Trump is keeping taxes low, increasing energy production, reducing spending and red tape. Basically, the Republican formula that promotes economic growth. So, why do you think it won't work this time?

To boot out the people that Biden let in who should have never been able to pursue an asylum claim.

We need to move these cases as fast as reasonably possible. Which has the added benefit of allowing any future claims to be adjudicated more quickly.
It does not appear to me that an increase in judges is necessary. A border patrol officer may have a few one-offs, but definitely not required.

Legal Framework:
  1. Expedited Removal: Under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA), foreign nationals apprehended within 100 miles of the border and within 14 days of entry can be subject to expedited removal. This process allows immigration officers to deport them without a hearing before an immigration judge, unless they express a credible fear of persecution (triggering an asylum process). In expedited removal:
    • No full due process (e.g., no right to a court hearing or legal representation) is required.
    • The individual may receive a brief interview with a Border Patrol officer and, if claiming asylum, an asylum officer for a credible fear determination.

You really need to understand immigration law and practices under Joey, as an Attorney.

Under Joey illegals were coming over everywhere. They are only supposed to enter thru Legal Ports of Entry if claiming asylum.
Joey didn't enforce that provision.

So illegals were given appointments to come before an Immigration Judge.
OVER 90 % never appeared for their appearance before the Judge.

NOBODY in the Federal Law Enforcement was tasked to remand them before ANY Immigration Judge !

So not needing more Immigration Judges, JUST ENFORCEMENT FOR APPEARANCES !

Fail to Appear penalties like in Criminal and Motor Vehicle Courts.

This is a genius take.

Yes, a President can do a much, much better job of shutting the border than Biden ever did. 100%.

The point of legislation is to hamstring the people like JOE BIDEN WHO ARE NOT SHUTTING DOWN THE BORDER.

I'm taking crazy pills, as intelligent people just deny things that are obvious to make political arguments. The border bill (which wasn't perfect but was better than what's still law) is a cudgel against a Democratic President, not something a Republican President needed.

But all credit to Trump for living up to his promises on the border. He's done that, and unlike some of the other nonsense, I think Americans clearly voted for this.
