Of course the US ally is a Kurdish force of which the Turks don't get along with. MSN article from WSJ.

The Middle East is a region where "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" just doesn't work. Even in cases where it might, it's still loaded with danger. There are too many groups at odds with each other. Now if the Kurds and Turks could ever patch things up then a lot of other things could more easily fall inline (IMHO).

Did they not? Was there any scientific reasoning behind toddler masking and people standing 6’ apart. Make sure it’s not 5’11”, it’s all about that 72nd inch. Science!
Did these steps or any of the other tangents you went on about in your previous post cause Covid, cause millions of deaths. Of course not. They were attempts at dealing with an unknown pandemic.

You're right, there aren't many examples of democratic countries being created out of dictatorships... but they do exist. These come to mind: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in the Baltics. Slovenia and probably Croatia out of the former Yugoslavia. Even some (certainly not all) of the former Soviet republics are somewhat democratic.

No doubt there's a danger of Syria becoming a reconstituted AQ or ISIS. However, it's different in this situation as they also have to become a sovereign state. It could end up as another Afghanistan but I think the probability of that happening is low. There are too many other countries around Syria that have a deep interest in seeing that doesn't happen: Turkiye (I think that's how they spell it now), Israel, and Jordan to name three. There was no corollary to those surrounding Afghanistan.
Yes. All good points.

The neocon idea of nation-building and exporting US style democracy has been a total failure. No one is defending Assad, stonedhead. Deep State orchestrated a coup in Ukraine. All they have done since is get Ukraine in a war they can’t win and are only hanging on with US money we don’t have. Iraq didn’t work. Afghanistan didn’t work. The Soviet Union didn’t work. Who would have thought that a group of people who were always ruled by kings and subsequently brutal communist dictators would all of a sudden when freed understand how to use that freedom and excel in a democracy?

“Unacceptable safety risk”

The political left needs to abandon their position on “trans kids”, or they will be left behind by the rest of the sane world.

People of the future will be horrified when they read about us neutering kids that were going through difficult times.
The British are a little late to the party compared to some other European countries.
