Ayo Dosunmu's play this season is the most impactful thing to happen for Illinois recruiting in a long time.
We've talked to a lot of prospective recruits over the years. The buzz now because of the good season and the emergence of Ayo is real. It's particularly strong in Chicago. Kids are watching Illinois, and AAU / high school coaches are bought in. Even kids who don't know much about Illinois know who Ayo is. It's huge.
This is the kind of buzz Illinois should have gotten from Deron Williams / Dee Brown and the run to the title game, but Weber just didn't have the recruiting chops. I think Underwood and this staff does.
Illinois is going to get players, and they should be a Big Ten contender and NCAA team for the foreseeable future.
