So there is no interest in the football team these days. I am not jumping ship yet and maybe I am too blinded to see the truth (or don't know enough about the game to see the faults of coaching and talent). The Illini are 3-4. They won 3 games they should win. The four loses, although 3 were blowouts, were not expected to be wins. Teams rated 17, 20, 21 in the AP and Purdue, which has won 4 straight and just blew the #2 team out. They will be Top 25 with a couple more wins.
So, should I be giving up like most fans? I am going to wait to see the next 3 games - Maryland, Minn. and Nebraska - all bad teams and beatable. If the Illini as a team look disinterested, then I will turn them off. If they go 2-1 and look competitive, I will watch the rest of the season hoping for a miracle sixth win and a minor bowl.
Sorry, I am not ready to write the season off yet. Call me stupid, my wife does when I turn the Illini on.
