As I’ve said many times before, every person I know who claims to be a Ron Paul style libertarian has simply lost the plot with reality. Not sure why this movement is so conspiratorial, but all someone like me can do is shake my head sadly. There’s real merit in much of the libertarian worldview, but it’s been tossed in favor of a bizarre disreality.
There’s nothing anti-American about being hawkish. It might be bad, it might be good. It’s pretty normal to have a wide range of views in a country in which folks are allowed to think for themselves. Of course, the Ukraine War was objectively started by Russia for reasons that have little to do with anything but the whims of Vlad Putin.

There was no revolution. There were protests about Viktor Yanukovich (the only Russian favorable Prez of the country in the last 25 years or so) very near the end of his elected term. Yanukovich ordered an attack on the protests, which resulted in a number of deaths on both police and primarily protestors. Yanukovich fled the country as the Ukrainian parliament voted something like 300-0 to remove him from office and set a new Presidential election.
Where did Yanukovich go? Moscow of course.
This was in 2014. Ukraine elected a new President who was very pro-Western. He lost in 2019 to Zelenskyy, who actually hailed from the same part of the country as Yanukovich (but by this time the entirely of Ukraine had moved on from Russia).
Putin invaded the country in 2022. Eight years and two Prez elections after Yanukovich fled.

Bottom line in Ukraine is the country has slowly separated from Russia and moved towards the West for about 30 years now because Russia sucks and the West doesn’t.
