CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois Athletics announced Tuesday that it will not renew the contract of women’s gymnastics head coach Nadalie Walsh.
Walsh led the Illini for the past eight years, and her contract will expire in August 2025. Illinois finished sixth at the Big Ten Championships and third in round two at NCAA Regionals this past season. The team’s highest conference finish under Walsh was second place in 2019.
During the Walsh era, Illinois totaled three All-Americans, crowned four Big Ten individual event champions, and had 23 All-Big Ten selections. Walsh was named WCGA Region 3 Co-Head Coach of the Year in 2022, guiding Illinois to a final national ranking of 19th.
“We appreciate Coach Walsh’s contributions to our program and wish Nadalie and her family all the best,” Director of Athletics Josh Whitman said.
A national search will begin immediately to secure the next leader of Fighting Illini Women’s Gymnastics.
