Of course I'm disappointed at the news that we directly attacked Iran's nuclear assets as my belief is that military violence should be a last resort. I don't have access to anywhere near the amount and type of information to make any sort of judgement on the move, however. Executive authority is vested in a single person in our government in part because many situations are fluid and require response timelines that can't wait for broad consensus nor be be dictated by opinion polling, and there are occasions where unpopular decisions need to be made. I'm not shocked at the move because the administration has been clear that Iran developing nuclear weapons capability wouldn't be allowed. I just hope that POTUS was acting based on intelligence presented to him in good faith because there is risk associated with any such move.
You can make some people happy all of the time, you can make some of the people happy some of the time and you can’t make some people happy no matter what you do.
Trump gave the Mullahs every opportunity to avoid what took place last night and they were not interested in any reasonable solution.
Two things that make me ok with this mission:
1) The Mullahs have threatened to kill all Jews and are consistently tied to death to America. Even if they have a 25% chance of accomplishing their nuclear goals, someone needed to stop it.
2) I had a friend killed by an IED in Iraq. He was good young man with a bright future. I am guessing Iran is responsible for somewhere north of at least 700 US service members deaths in the ME. It is hard to know which ones specifically, but they have not been deterred in their quest to kill our service members. Iran's ability to inflict mass casualties using Nukes is now crushed. I am praying somehow the people of Iran rise up against their leaders and choose a different, more peaceful path.
I appreciate Trump haters like Jeff can admit this move was not unreasonable. I believe fair minded people know what a problem a nuclear Iran was going to present.

I hated the Iraq war but it took awhile to realize just how bad the intel and advisors were in making that decision. Hopefully with Iran it is different. Iran has been a big part of state sponsored terrorism destabilizing the Middle East. Them not getting a nuke is a good thing but we will see what crazy responses they come up with. They will do something and it will try to kill as many people as possible. Trump wants peace but I'm not sure they do. Particularly with Russia and China supporting them.

You get rid of that regime that is the biggest supporter of terror and a more conventional government is formed, there is more peace and prosperity in the Middle East and the energy sector. Protecting/improving US commerce. Lots of tax payer money saved. I don’t think Trump suggested he/US was going to be the one doing the regime change, if it happens at all. Massie went for a loser political point.
You are moving the goal posts and I most certainly not saying that Iran isn’t an issue. It will be hard to change regimes without boots on the ground. Massie does not go for political points. He is a principled libertarian. Most importantly, he doesn’t grovel at the feet of the Israelis like half the Republican party and truly thinks America first. No matter how hard someone tries to conflate Israeli interests as American interests, they most certainly are not most of the time.
