Most people consider 10s of billions being spent on non-citizens to be waste. Dems consider it needed services. Wouldn’t be needed if we just enforced laws over the last few years.
Dems acting like there isn’t a ton of waste in govt spending is a pretty terrible message. 20/80. Most people don’t buy it. We’ve all seen it at local, state, and federal levels.
Someone from Illinois acting like there isn’t a ton of government waste is pretty nuts.
Illinois and the Federal government are two completely different animals. State of Illinois has a great deal more corruption and waste than the federal government. Also, I really don't care about waste in states that I don’t live in.
Based on the people I know that work for the federal government, you could reduce the federal workforce by 25% across the board. In addition the most useless workers are generally the old timers. However, when it comes to business travel and expense the government is very frugal.
When it comes to the Federal Government, the federal workforce is about 5% of the federal budget. 5% is comparable to most western countries. If you cut 25% of the workforce, you are cutting 1.25% of the budget. I am all for strategic reductions but that is not massive waste.
Trump is reducing government spending but most of it will be a reduction in services not waste. It will be interesting to see how it works out. We will know in two years.

Cut headcount in critical departments that ensure public safety. I am sure that will turn out well. Tell air traffic controllers that they are eligible for a buyout and then told they weren't. Total clown show. Never have staff reductions been done in such a FUBAR manner.

Believe me. Illinois needs DOGE, as do many Illinois municipalities. So much waste and corruption. The guy who created much of it has finally been prosecuted, but the creation is growing as big as JaBba’s belly.

If Trump was a great leader, he would cut back on his own expenses given that cutting spending is the prime objective. Never going to happen with a grifter as President.
