Forget it….

I love that they keep talking about 20 year olds as if they are incapable.

Yet they want high school kids to vote in national elections, and want kids far younger to make lifelong decisions that will destroy their body.
They have very incoherent messaging. Easily defeated with a few points as you made. We had 23 Dem Senators send out identical tweets. Stephen A Smith essentially said this is why they lost and why they will continue to lose. They are concerned with messaging, not policy. This tweet is great. Even Michael Steele thinks the Dems are goofs for holding up bingo cards.

It’s all so coordinated and not authentic. People see right through it.

They don’t have a clear message because there aren’t many positions they will stick to. They don’t stand for anything other than anti Trump. As I’ve said for years, it has them supporting many unsupported positions.

Democrats giving Trump a lot of photo opps where he appears to be the protector of women. We are in a bizarro world.
The Democrats never protected women. They only protected women who agree with them. They just voted yesterday to continue their real war on real women. It’s disgusting. Any man who has a daughter playing sports and still votes for Democrats is an imbecile.

And they neglect that they've all been vetted, are under the same binding NDAs, and must adhere to the same laws as, in this case, IRS employees do. Since their scope goes beyond the IRS, I'd say they've probably been vetted much more thoroughly than a typical IRS agent. And I'm sure there are people of comparable age/life experience working for the DoD, intel agencies, DoE, and State Department.

This really seems to be their position. If Trump says he's for clean air, the Democrats respond they're for dirty air. It's how you keep taking the wrong side on the 80/20 issues.

DTrain. I appreciate you posting your thoughts on Ukraine. Russia needs the war to stop, but as long as it is just them against Ukraine, they will continue and have been adding N Koreans, drones from Iran, etc to hang on. If Trump made major economic moves against Russia, even just threatened to do them, it is their vulnerability. Also, China is back stopping Russia in this war. Trump knows the art of the deal so I hope it all works out but Russia is probably harder to negotiate with today than a month ago. (the other big threat is more lethal arms to Ukraine but Trump doesn't seem to want to do that. )

Under the Ukranian Constitution enacted before Zelensky even entered politics, the declaration of martial law suspends elections. Ukranian parliamentary elections were supposed to happen first, then later the Presidential election there. Both were suspended. Ukranian Parliament has ratified the suspension of elections btw.

As for the church thing, there is a Russian Orthodox church loyal to Moscow which the Ukranian government has taken actions against. Literally the leadership of that church is tied in with the Putin Regime. I'm open to arguments that this is somehow wrong, but it's certainly not without cause and has to be expected during war. It's a whole lot less than interning the Japanese American citizenry! ;)

These talking points you get from the online right are just as stupid as the online right. From the online left's wokeism to whatever this is from the online right ... when will reason prevail?
In the last 100 years of American History the most egregious event was the forceful internment of Japanese-Americans and the theft of their property AND liberty !

The problem for Russia is they bet a lot on 2024 going well and while it seemed like that may be the case by late summer, things have somewhat come apart since then. I think - but have no support - that the current casualty disparity is tremendously favorable to Ukraine. It's definitely been favorable

A lot what you've said above is reasonable enough, but I think items like recruitment and production started to turn more favorably 12-18 months ago and now both are again showing signs of strain. There's a reason for North Korean troops.

I do agree that Russia can continue to make marginal advances (and with moderate European support, Ukraine can avoid collapse). But continue to inflict a tremendous toll for limited territorial loss might be preferable to letting Russia call TO and take another crack in a few years. If Ukraine's problems were self-defeating, Ukraine would have collapsed in 2024. Doesn't mean they couldn't collapse in a couple of years, but their enemy's army could mutiny/economy self destruct in the interim.

At this point it's a real gamble for both sides. Trump is treating this as a gamble for only one side - Ukraine. Vance has his own head so far up his sorry ass that he thinks the things he sees on fringe right wing websites are God's truth.

I think an evenhanded approach of "stop now or we will throw even more weapons to Ukraine" while telling Ukraine "you don't settle, you won't get more" would work much better than the current Trump play.
Anyone that still suffers from TDS 1.0 and is about to get TDS 2.0 should take a rest for their mental health.

For these poor people to declare Putin BAD, Z-man GOOD based on "elections" scheduled in 2026 should be aware that Russia has had "elections" ! But they aren't.

Putin is the result.

In a few years as ROR and/or prison releases of violent or repeating criminals swings back to the real idea of incarceration works, release doesn't AND illegal immigrants are returned to their country of origin,,,,,,then crime rates will reduce, not before !
Plus Kash requiring FBI to count and properly codify all crimes in the entire USA, NOT estimate !

Lol- not a chance

I saw someone had for sale at a sports auction the glove AND the cleats worn by Bill Bruckner the day he mishandled and kicked the ground ball at first base that allowed the Mets to WIN the World Series !

I drop in once in awhile to see the craziness going on here, but I'm still confused about how Zelensky said Americans will fight in Ukraine. He did say at the WH meeting that the problems with Russia will ultimately land in America's lap (probably true but certainly debatable). But if anyone thinks that him trying to horse trade his own leadership for Ukraine's NATO membership (a highly unlikely outcome) is somehow equivalent to forcing American soldiers to fight in Ukraine, they must also be pretty miffed about admitting Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland (a very recent addition), and even Poland, all of whom have spent plenty of time on the wrong end of the Russia spear over the course of history. Oh well. I don't think Ukraine's joining NATO is particularly realistic for anyone, appears that their best case ceasefire would involve European peacekeepers.

It does seem like very few people in America have any sort of handle on what's actually happening in the war, as both idiot political teams seem to benefit from the argument that "Ukraine is on the brink." Problem is, Russia launched massive offensives in Ukraine across 2024, and the end result of Russia was very limited gains that have basically ceased over the last 3 months. It's not a disaster for Russia, but at best the Russian initiative is waning. At worst, Russia's economy and war fighting capabilities are on extremely shaky ground. In either case, there's not a great impetus for a "bad peace" for Ukraine itself (and frankly, Europe can keep Ukraine afloat under current conditions a lot longer than is acknowledged by many involved in this discussion, both pro- and anti-Ukraine).

If you don't believe me, you might believe Institute for the Study of War. Any which way, at the casualty rate suffered by Russia last year (about 104 casualties for each square kilometer of land conquered) relative to the territory in Ukraine not under Russian control, it would require nearly 200,000,000 Russian casualties to conquer the entire country. There are only about 140-145M Russians these days lol. Obviously, that's not how wars go, either Russia would perform better or stop fighting at this casualty rate, but it speaks to how difficult the fight is for our wannabe modern Soviets.

Separately, I am thoroughly enjoying the DOWN, DOWN, DOWN crime rates we are experiencing as we become further removed from the Covid chaos of 2020-21. As I pointed out back then, this all began in 2023 and continued through 2024. The good news is that it keeps dropping in 2025, particularly for violent crimes. There is growing evidence that the BLM movement starting in about 2014 was a huge hindrance to safety in black communities. This year, some of the early numbers in the big cities I track are flat amazing for violent crime reduction in 2025.

Look for increasingly good news on the drug overdose death front. Sounds like the preliminary numbers suggest a drop from 114K death from Q4 2022 through Q3 2023 to 87K from Q4 2023 through Q3 2024.

Separately, if you aren't a little worried about the economy, time to start. Consumer sentiment has dipped, and trade wars are inflationary (so are deportations, but the Admin has far more justification for this policy). Not a happy combination, but I'm sure the Economic Genius in the WH understands all this well.
I've told you how to get free eggs, so relax. Gas at the big box station I use has gone down .079 Cents since Jan 21 St.

Dictators have no issue with casualties in their armed forces. This IS the way they remain in power as Dictators, focus their populace on an exterior enemy !

Lotta jealousy here. And yes, I understand these issue better than the people arguing about them, hence my rarely coming on here to waste my time.

Any which way, I was initially a skeptic about the minerals deal, but from what I can tell ISW (which is pretty darn neutral in its assessments) seems to think the minerals deal is actually a good hook for giving the US a future stake in Ukranian peace that the Russians would be concerned to defy. So I'd be completely fine if Z signed it, and it was never unreasonable that Trump proposed even if I'm squishy about taking minerals for past funding (future funding is different).

I'd be fine if a ceasefire was reached on something similar to the current lines with security guarantees from European peacekeepers. I would prefer the US not stop funding Ukraine if the Russians don't agree to these terms (and I'd be OK with Trump cutting off the spigot if Ukraine didn't).

One of the big issues is that the Russian offensive of 2024 has culminated without any major breakthrough. Everyone knows it on the ground, Ukraine is worried Russia wants to stop to rearm and that's it (so Russia is faking an interest in peace), everyone else would prefer to be done with the conflict and bottomless pit of money. I do like watching Russia destroy its military 50 or so miles from its border tho, that's good for us and worth every cent IMO.
Boots on the ground !

Just construction/mining boots !

In fairness, there is basically nothing anyone could do to help Georgia in that conflict. It was limited and Georgia's location basically forces you to stand by or actually start a hot war to stop Putin.

More than anything, it just showed who Putin is and where he was headed.
Or where American geo politics were headed and Putin followed right along !

I think that makes a lot of sense and I think Trump was willing to go down this road until Zelensky ambushed him with more demands that the US wasn't going to agree to. There's a big difference between Europe sending peacekeepers and Ukraine's admittance to NATO.
The meeting Z-Man had hours BEFORE with the Dems, who TOLD him to REJECT the Treaty deal WITH Trump was the reason for his actions at the White House.

He thought he was still dealing with a Dementia President !

I don't have any insight to the actual Russian strategy, but it makes sense they'd want to grab what they can once there was a pretty good chance Trump would be back. You're right it seems to have fallen flat.

I haven't heard our current POTUS say much at all about Russia regarding negotiations and eventual peace agreements, and if there have been any diplomatic talks between Russia and the US, they're still under wraps. I think once the mineral deal is in place it becomes more of a gamble for Russia to keep pushing the war. And to my knowledge POTUS has not said he was considering withdrawing support for Ukraine, although I think that possibility has been floated by others in the administration, or highly visible post-neocon Republicans. The stick the US has relative to both sides right now (assuming US boots on the ground is off the table for the time being) is money, guns and bombs to Ukraine. The mineral deal makes the flow of money, guns, and bombs much more in the US's strategic national interest.

One thing we'll disagree on is Vance, but I don't think he's a consequential player in this. Right now his job is to be Trump's wing man and that's what he's doing. At the extreme worst he's much less of a hindrance to US interests than the remaining cohort of Obama's wingpersons who are actively trying to undermine the administration.

Long way of saying my guess is that Trump's current play is exactly your suggested approach. From the outside it appears the mineral deal is a move to bolster that play in a way that's mutually beneficial to both the US and Ukraine, which is the side I think he favors at the end of the day. I think Trump's plan was to have that in hand to wave around when it was time to talk turkey with Russia. I don't take what the (D)s and neocons say about Trumps motives and actions as gospel. It's not an intellectually sound position, I admit, but the louder those cohorts crow "Putin puppet" the more I think our current POTUS is doing the right thing.
...: current POTUS is doing the right thing. "

All I said was it is right leaning. That appears to be accurate.

I like to check multiple sources, no matter what. I think the article I shared is worth looking into.
So right-leaning is “factual reporting due to proper sourcing of information and a clean fact check record.”

Excellent, I agree.

This guy is like a yoyo. As indecisive as hell. Very poor leader. Who got to him this time?

Did you ever think it is Trump's gangster like tactics. Every time the Ukraine is threatened he backs off to back his country. The BS that Trump just wants peace is rotten. Trump wants Putin Russia to keep everything, give up nothing. Plus he harms/hurts/threatens Ukraine every step of the way. No money to rebuild power, no arms shipments, no cyber security against Russia, easing sanctions on Russia, not sharing intelligence.
