The recruiting process is winding down for 2-star offensive lineman Jake Cerny.
Cerny, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle from Traverse City (Mich.) West, will make his college decision known this weekend.
"It's almost over," Cerny said. "I'm making my decision on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm having a little get together with teammates, close friends, and family. "
Cerny's high school team is on the practice field Monday, so the commitment was well-timed. Cerny said it's a weight off of his shoulders, and he can focus on his senior year.
"That was the reason I'm doing it the day before football practice starts," Cerny said.
Illinois appears to be in good position to land Cerny. He visited the Illini in mid-June and came away with a possitive impression of the program.
Cerny is being recruited by Illini tight ends coach Alex Golesh.
