I was looking at Pete Fiutak's prediction of the upcoming game on Collegfootballnews.com.

Here is what he had to say:

"Minnesota is playing better defense.

Illinois went to Madison and out-Wisconsined, Wisconsin. Minnesota is going to out-Illinois, Illinois"

So, I have not watched a lot of Minnesota this season and couldn't tell you a lot about their players.

However, BTN ran a stat the other day on Big 10 Live that we are only giving up 8.0 PPG vs them at 8.9.

How are they better than us defensively especially if we have played good non-conf competition (10-8 combined overall) vs teams like N. Mex. State, WIU, and Colorado (1-15 combined overall).? And Purdue goes to their place and puts 20 points on them to beat them.

Did I fail basic math?

I’m heading over to Memorial Stadium. Huge game.

Should be arriving to Memorial Stadium at ~1030. Ideal parking / pro tips for bumping up close to game time?

Illinois QB Tommy DeVito will start today’s game against Minnesota. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on Big Ten Network.

DeVito was injured in the first quarter of last week’s win against Iowa and missed the remainder of the game.

Hopefully that serves as sufficient motivation

I think today will be a special day for the Illini. Let's beat those pesky Gophers and become bowl eligible. It feels really good waking up for Illini football in mid-October.

PK Caleb Griffin is out again.

Taz Nicholson, Issac Darkangelo, and Isaiah Williams should be good to go.

He's not tipping anything off on DeVito one way or the other, which makes sense. Make Minnesota prepare for two very difference quarterbacks.

Bielama did say DeVito is participating in practice, but he didn't specify to what degree.

Art Sitkowski is obviously getting more reps this week.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Former Illini offensive lineman Jeff Allen will serve as the honorary captain when Illinois hosts Minnesota on Saturday. The game is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT at Memorial Stadium.

Allen had 47 career starts and was a two-time All-Big Ten selection at Illinois before going on to a successful career in the NFL. He was a second-round pick in 2012 and played eight seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.

Jeff and his wife Marissa, a former Illini soccer player, own their own business "Cookie Society." They reside in Texas.
