What's up fellas and ladies, new poster here. I have a question since I'm kind of new to Illini sports and live in Vegas.

Why don't more Big Ten schools follow the "Wisconsin model" and scrap the spread and go big-boy football?

Seriously, Alvarez's theory is that big bodies are the type of bodies they have up there, so why not win in a way where they could build around the recruiting talent they have.

Why chase 2-stars out of Florida, Georgia and Texas to play on the o-line and front 7?

If you look at the most consistent teams in the BIG the last 20 years that aren't blue-bloods, the most consistent are all playing Power Football - MSU, Wisc, Iowa. (Norhtwestern doesn't win because of their offense with Fitzgerald.)

I realize Tiller won consistently with a Spread model, but he seems to be the outlier.

Why don't more BIG teams do what Wisconsin does?
