Is there a plan for 2017 and beyond? Looks like things have dried up with the DT offer list.
Any chance that either Simms or Lee could play DT if both were to commit?
Could you grow a young SDE into a DT? I guess you could go after Myles Adams, but he doesn't look real big / tall...Would need time to grow and develop. Is there a OG on the roster that you could move to DT...?
I know that our new DC is a disciple of Lovie Smith/Rod Marinelli...If our scheme is changing to a 4-3 Tampa 2/Cover 2 look-alike...we need a few capable DTs and very athletic LBs. Theoretically anyone on the DL needs to be able to get penetration and rush the QB...from any position. I think the DTs we have on the roster now can work...but I don't see any Tommy Harrison / Tank Johnson clones on the roster now or in the near future. The LBs in that scheme are extremely important too...Julian Jones might fit the mold, but not sure we have the guys we need...I like where we are going with the DE position from a recruiting standpoint. Should be interesting to see how guys like Smoot, Mcgrew and Phillips are used...
