Wanting progress vs. not progressing

I certainly will never root against my beloved Illini. But Lovie has shown no signs of progress in 4 years. I think everyone expected better this year and the let down is enormous. I don't think anyone here believes Lovie can turn things around anymore. So it saddens me deeply that if the team only beats Rutgers so we can get rid of Lovie and turn the page on to the next chapter, I'm ok with it. But it just saddens me to think if we do win a few more, Whitman might still think that is progress and retain him. As Fido pointed out in a thread, Lovie's defense has gotten worse each year he has coached. I hope Josh can see what us fans have seen, there has been no progress of getting better at all.

The best aspect of Illini football is special teams.

The games against UM, UW, Iowa, MSU are going to be brutal. I expect those teams to run up the score as much as possible on us. What is ugly is going to get worse.
