The angst following Illinois' end-of-season meltdown
continues to simmer, and on Monday Groce will address the media. No
telling what he'll say but I would humbly suggest he says two things:
One,
he should offer an apology to Illini fans because the flat-line effort
Illinois gave against Michigan and Alabama is inexcusable. He has to
know that.
Two, he should offer some kind of plausible explanation as to what happened in those final two or two-and-a-half games.
What broke? What changed? What happened?
The
worst thing going into the off season would be to suggest that there is
no explanation. No one wants to hear the head coach say, "We don't know
what went wrong but we're sure hoping it doesn't happen again."
Not good enough.
