First, I am pretty surprised by the reaction of the fans, even by UI standards.

Second, the locker room was devastated by the loss. It is not a cliche to say that they fully believed they were going to win this game. Down to the last play. Much different than teams in the past.

Third, and this is a repeat, we have the best ST coach in the conference.

Fourth, the forced turnover concept seems to be setting in. It is very different when you are not expecting to create turnovers. It is a mentality. The defense practices returning turnovers, which I thought was silly. Phillips return, and the blocking in front of him, was not happenstance.

Fifth, to those calling for more throws downfield, you had a true freshman qb who had one receiver who could separate from the defenders. It would have been a disaster if Rivers started throwing in to tight coverage.

Sixth, the return of Dorsey will be huge. He is a TE who can separate from CBs.

Seventh, the DLines job was to contain. They did a pretty good job, though it may not look like it on the tape.

Eighth, if somebody offered UI to have the ball at the 15 yard line with a chance to win on the last play, whom would have taken it? The way people were talking, the line should have been USF by 20.

Ninth, we had 3 all B10 freshmen out of the game, excluding Green, who is also capable of separation at receiver.

Tenth, when in doubt, trust Vegas.

The team played their butts off, walkons and all. They played to win.

The suspensions. There were minor differences in the behavior, with the one common denominator being what everyone knows. But the difference were not significant, and these other behaviors did not involve criminal activities.

Finally, when was the last time we played an exciting game against a quality opponent to the very end?

I repeat, our best days are ahead of us.
