CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The State of Illinois moved into Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois plan on Friday, allowing the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics to announce 100% capacity for the 2021-22 sports season.
State Farm Center will return to its full capacity of 15,544 for the upcoming Illinois Basketball season, allowing the Fighting Illini to play in front of fans once again after attendance was not permitted this past year due to COVID-19.

Illinois is coming off a 24-7 campaign, including a 16-4 mark in conference play followed by the Big Ten Tournament championship and No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Illinois' 19 wins against Big Ten competitors set a school record and marked the second-highest total in conference history. The Illini also set a school record by defeating six top-10 teams during the season. Illinois ended the year at No. 2 in the final AP poll, the second-highest ranking in program history.
