Starting to believe that Beckie's firing was the spark that this team (and entire program) needed. Brought the team together (the classic football "us against the world" mentality) at the right time and significantly upgraded at the HC position (and I believe tactical in-game acumen is just massive these days).
I mean, Illinois does not win games by a combined 96-3. Does not physically dominate like this on D (and simply couldn't under the old D system we were running out until late last year when we finally discarded the totally passive approach).
We are going to find out a lot next week, but cautious optimism is now legitimate.
