If you want to be disturbed about where this program is, look back a few years ago to our decision to take Simeon's Tate over Scoochie Smith out of NYC. Smith is now at Dayton. I remember liking Smith from his videos, and being all for taking him. The coaches obviously decided he wasn't different enough from Tate to offer, as I think we were getting him if we took him.

Smith played a lot for Dayton's E8 team last year (at least half the minutes in the NCAA tournament). However, he wasn't all that great most of the season. That said, this year he averages 9 ppg and 4 apg playing about 32 mpg at Dayton. He shoots 40% from the field, 40% from three (he could shoot from deep on his tapes), and has one of the highest steals percentages in college hoops (so he's a plus defender, which is probably why he was getting minutes last year). His Ortg is 103.

If he was playing 30 mpg at PG at IL, we certainly wouldn't be missing the NCAAs. And Starks could sub at PG and SG, putting him in a position where he would succeed.
