Preview: Illinois travels to Nebraska

Again the Old Men and their whistles could determine the game.

But we have the length to compete od D and paint offense.

Pass don't dribble, shoot 3's when open, otherwise show us attempts in the paint.

Ball safety control with our ball handling and passes.

Slow Game, but

Illini 65, Corny 55.

This one will probably be sort of ugly and a slugfest. My guess is we'll shoot much closer to our season average 33% from 3 than to the 50-some % we shot Saturday. A key is who guards Walker. Dain and Coleman both have the length. Tbh I don't remember if he's much of a perimeter threat. If he is maybe you put Hawkins on him?

Another key is whether Illinois has the discipline to continue running the offense if they encounter some rough shooting stretches. If they revert to standing around chucking 3s and they're not falling, could get ugly. If we stick with the system, take care of the ball, and rhythm shots fall at a decent clip getting out of there with a win is doable.

We have 15 fouls to give guarding Walker, ALL from guys taller than his 6' 9" !

As he shoots under 50 % at the FT line.

I think Hawkins determines how well we play in this game. The staff has to keep him focused. His benefit is his scoring (WAR equivalent if I’m using this) not his passing and top of the key passing ability. That triple double was great and all but I could care less about him getting the assists. This isn’t Kofi and the blackhole, and he isn’t Lebron James. If he thinks about the pass, he misses the shot, if he sees a pass he thinks he can make, he has more turnovers.

Yep. I meant to say something above about letting Coleman do Coleman things rather than asking him to be a tall, lanky version of Magic. I think we're darn close to undefeated this year when "Good Coleman" shows up. So it's sort of on BU to keep Coleman in the niches where Good Coleman thrives.
