I think the reason QB play in the NFL is so bad is because they ruin more young QBs than they develop. Especially given the ever increasing difference between pro and college offenses, it's incredible to think the NFL has no real process for developing young QBs. There are no minor leagues and it's a win-now-league where backups get almost no practice reps once the season starts. How many college pitchers would make it in the big leagues if they had to go straight to the Majors?

NFL owners need to suck it up and invest in a developmental league AND take some risk and let QBs like those chosen in this year's draft play in it. An alternative is revert back to rules that encourage more running and thereby create a game where you can more easily protect a young QB while he develops and still give the team a chance to win. They're being stupid and arrogant if they think their product will stay on top forever as the quality of play continues to diminish.
