In the end, I think you had a young and immature kid who had a lot of people (ESPN included) pulling him in many different directions and unfortunately their was not someone looking out for his best interests (making a comfortable decision). If I recall correctly, I believe some of the basketball recruiting beatniks had Cliff going to Illinois about 2 hours before press conference...and then he changed to Kansas.
If he was wavering one way or the other going into that week, someone (maybe even ESPN) should of pulled the plug on that announcement or or at least tell the kid...Hey...you do not need to decide this today or this week...particularly if you are not sure. Take some more time.
