Been watching UI football since 1970 and can't remember too many kickers that were almost this automatic anywhere from the 35 yd line in. The only two that come to mind are Dan Beaver & Neil Rackers but I think McLaughlin is better than both.

I know CFB is all about touchdowns but assuming that UI's average starting field position is its 25 yard line, it only needs a drive of 40 yards to be in position to score. Would rather had touchdowns on the scoring kicks yesterday but getting the 53 yd. FG to end the half was a boost going into the locker room. Also, having a kicker that can put the ball deep into the end zone even when the wind is in his face also negates the other team from starting its drive beyond the 25 yard line.

The punting and punt coverage have been really good as well. These two probably aren't gong to win many CFB games but they aren't going to be the reason that you lost as well.
