There is zero reason that an AD who isn’t pathetic would allow Lovie to be the HC next week. I’d accept a retirement and “coaching out the season,” but this is insanely bad.
Players have quit in Game 6. Which means many were ready to quit before the season started. Which means the players are a helluva lot sharper than a decent chunk of fans on this board, because this was never going anywhere this fall.
Lovie is now undeniably worse than Tim Beckman. Really not a close call. I get that it was a competent OC in Cubit that saved Beckman, but a competent OC hasn’t saved Lovie.
Sometimes you just have to laugh at Illinois football. Whitman relied on a recommendation from Ron Turner for Lovie. Turner is one of the worst coaches I’ve ever seen pave the sidelines. Most people on the board have smarter opinions about football than RT.
