To make Lovie's cover 2 defense work you need great linebackers, we do not have Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs playing LB at Illinois. Lovie needs to play a defense that fits his talent or go out and recruit good LB's that will make this defense work. Jake Hanson has been a huge liability and teams are really exploiting him in the passing game. With Illinois history of great LB's there is no excuse for our inability to recruit that position, it frustrated the hell out of me. Past Illinois teams that had success had very good talent at LB.
Another thing that really angers me is Illinois does seem very disinterested, seems like they just go through the motions. They are a reflection of the head coach, no fire, no intensity. Someone needs to light a fire under these kids!!!
