Interesting side note. I have a fb friend that is a lawyer that does mediation in Dallas. She did a post yesterday praising the Collin County judge that lowered that bail on the kid that stabbed and killed the other kid. Her and her lawyer friends were pretty rude denouncing the silly layman's that don't understand how everything works. I didn't comment, but read it all.
She is a bright lady, but the condescending undertones that you see here and there are what keeps her from getting numerous invites in that friend group. We used to invite them more, but that has all but stopped and we are one of the bigger entertainers of the friend group.
I get that non attorneys do not always appreciate the "necessary" obstacles to keep the law running smooth. The flip side is the rich and powerful rarely are held to account when ignoring the law. So, the anti-trumpers can clamor away here and I will clamor away when the Biden's of the world do it. But we ought be able to admit this is not just a Trump thing.

This is a foundational question in the USA. We don’t hand out punishment based on what the government thinks, but instead what the court system decides. The Trump Admin is defying the courts.

I have seen our legal process up close and personal. I do not believe it has been favorable to me. So, nothing new.
I think the median citizen, if both sides were explained to them, would clearly favor bringing the guy back and deporting him properly. No matter how bad he is.
I have no clue about the bail for the kid who stabbed another kid at a track meet. Seems horrible to me that the stabbing happened and it’s become a racialized situation. Not sure why people are “supporting” the guy who is likely to get convicted of murder or manslaughter in the underlying case. Won’t be surprised if the matter gets pled out with a very substantial sentence.
