If I were Illinois and couldn't land any of the legit sitting head coaches, I'd strongly consider Jon Scheyer.
Look at Marquette with Wojo. On his staff is Chris Carawell and Travis Deiner. That's a pretty impressive young staff.
At Illinois, you could place Roger Powell and Dee Brown on that staff and bring back a guy like Rob Judson for his vast knowledge and experience.
This would be if you can't get Lon, Mack, Bennett, Marshall, etc... Scheyer would be a pretty impressive hire when looking to build back your reputation with recruiting big wigs in the Chicago area. The one other "assistant" I love is Greg Gard but I see him sticking at Wisconsin if they can't land Bennett.
High School phenom, Duke All American and team captain, coaching now under K, Gkenbrook North. He'd at least be a legit outside the box hire that would be welcomed with opened arms by any basketball figure in Chicago.
