It's the Eve Day of a New Era

Hard not to be a little more excited than normal for the first game, eh?

I bumbled across this on Youtube. It was arguably the most memorable football day of my life as a fan. Even though the audio is pretty primitive, it's apparent just how juiced the stadium was that day. The tOSU game a few weeks earlier was similar. One could also argue that this afternoon was the apex of the White Era. I was a sophomore and IIRC this was the first win over Michigan in my lifetime. There was definitely a David/Goliath subtext in many of our (student-age fans' minds). Getting that safety at the end clinched it and was a nearly surreal moment. Then after the game there was nothing to do except go to the ginormous Halloween street party. Don't even know if they do that any more.

It's long but I sat through the whole thing on 1.25X speed. There was a lot I'd forgotten, a lot of names I hadn't thought about in many, many years. Thought maybe some of the others of that era would possibly enjoy it despite the poor quality.

I'm hopeful the Lovie Era will surpass the White Era.
