I didn't word that well, didn't think you were attacking me personally. Just some of my generalizations, while you are making similar generalizations. I always enjoy our discussions, and appreciate your positions/data that you bring to the board.
I would argue that while they do pay a significant amount of taxes, they take in a huge amount of benefits too. I think if we looked at the medical expenditures alone, it would be high. The problem is, everything is an estimate. We don't track how much is paid out for non-citizens for health benefits, police activity, schools, etc. The #s are massive.
Just looking at medical alone would be surprising to a lot of people. Think about a single mother (or family) who has delivered a few kids here, and not paid a $ towards delivery, treatment, etc. That happens all the time.
We have anecdotal stories for both sides. I'm sure there is a % of non citizens that give more than they take. But there is a significant % that don't. And some of them learn to game the system. We should weed that out as much as possible, so we don't have to cut benefits for American citizens.

I am really worried that the average Chinese student that I met would report back to Beijing how much I drank in a week, and the perversion seen in the co-ed dorm that I lived in. Plus on weekends I understand that the Chinese left campus and took trips to the nearby airbase where they took pictures of the planes to send back to China. I don't think they were given internships in a secret government facility, do you? I would think that our counter-intelligence services were monitoring those that were truly spies, don't you?
