The "forecast" of empty shelves is from retailers who are scaling back their own orders. Why? It's because they're afraid consumers won't buy price-sensitive goods (as in cheap stuff) at higher prices or they might just wait out the tariffs until they're reduced... leaving retailers stuck with higher cost inventory. Things people actually need will be there to puchase.

What's most funny about this is that the entire MAGA train hangs by a single thread. The belief that this "great businessman" knows a lot about the economy and will generally enhance prosperity. I think we could elect JP Morgan and this wouldn't ensure enhanced prosperity, but people put a lot on the President when it comes to economics.

If the economy comes up short in 2025/early 2026, it's going to get real ugly from a political perspective. We are talking about double digit Dem wins in the 2026 House vote ugly.
