DEFENSE TIME-OUTS

I've noticed in many games that "defensive time-outs" are usually only taken when there is a big play like a 4th and goal, or trying to "ice" a field-goal kicker. I've often wondered if it would be worth calling a timeout when you sense a momentum change after you've had a turnover in a key spot in a game and the other team will try to strike quick quickly or you sense your team is experiencing a big letdown. It seems to me taking a TO to regroup and set your D might be more productive than a lot of the offensive timeouts taken. Thoughts?
