Okay I'll just get this out of the way now, Lovie said there is no update on Marquez Beason's knee injury besides that it's "significant." He said if they discover some definite news regarding it that he would let us know. Beason was in crutches and had a huge brace on the right knee today.

Schedule was the same as it has been since they've been in full pads, except that skill positions skipped position drills and just did some 7v7.

Players out today included: RT Alex Palczweski, Beason obviously, CB Dylan Wyatt, S Sydney Brown, DE Seth Coleman, DT Tymir Oliver, OL Josh Plohr, WR Trevon Sidney, RB RaVon Bonner, OL Jordyn Slaughter and CB Joseph Thompson.

Walk-on WR Matt Judd got switched to safety today to try and add more depth.

CB Devon Witherspoon practiced today for the first time and OL Verdis Brown also practiced after sitting out the last few practices. WR Casey Washington also practiced after missing a few days.

Offense won practice today and Lovie admitted so himself. Rushing game was there, passing game was crisp with Peters and even Robinson at times. Defense wasn't necessarily bad, but just got man-handled during the two minute drill and put up barely any resistance.

Offense:

QB Brandon Peters had a solid day again and I'd put a significant money down that he's the starter. Lovie is of course a prune about admitting it and won't even though it's so clear. Peters performed well again during 7v7 and was very accurate overall during 11v11. He will at least guarantee the nonconference wins, conference play may be a different story but he at the very least won't lose you conference games IMO. Strong arm, good pocket awareness and shows he can go through a progression good enough. And has sneaky athleticism to get out of the pocket and scramble a little bit. His two-minute drive was excellent and efficient. He hit TE Daniel Barker (who feasted today, more on him in a sec) for over a 20 yard gain over the field, hit him again to convert on a 3rd and 10, then connected with Barker for the TD. All accurate and well placed balls.

If y'all still care, QB Matt Robinson was fine today. Not great during 7v7 sessions as usual but wasn't unwatchable like he had been before, had some nice passes. His two minute drill was excellent too as he was sharp with all his passes. He floated a ball to the back-left endzone to WR Kyron Cumby to finish the drive. Positive day overall, but really doesn't matter as it's clear he's the third string QB.

QB Isaiah Williams took the other first team reps today and didn't really do a whole lot. Looked like he regressed with his passing today and it was blatantly obvious that if he didn't have his first read, he was just going to take off. Got to hope new plays were thrown in there, unless you would've hoped to see him by now going through some sort of a progression like he had prior days in camp. He looked like Day 3 or 4 Isaiah today. No turnovers however which wasn't the case on those days.

RB Mike Epstein practiced today and I think he's the most natural runner on the team. Best patience and vision out of the other RBs and he hits his holes strong and fast. Looks 100 percent healthy. Corbin is obviously the most explosive and he had a really good day of camp. He made cuts at the right time and showed better patience for letting his line make a hole. Corbin also showed off the hands in the passing game today in a big way. RB Jarkari Norwood continues to receive first team reps and he should. Every day of camp he's seemingly produced consistent long runs. Now they're not Dre Brown long runs (which he didn't have any today) but they're significant.

WR Josh Imatorbhebhe is being challenged with CB Nate Hobbs on him and that battle has been fun. Hobbs has the advantage down the field, but Imatorbhebhe has the advantage with a stronger and bigger body at short and medium range because he can shield Hobbs off and there's nothing Hobbs can do about it. WR Dalevon Campbell had the best catch of camp when he skied for a ball in the endzone during 7v7. That's the second time he's done that during camp. He may come out of nowhere to make a couple catches this season. Cumby was very active today out of the slot and made several catches.

I mentioned Barker already, but this man has been dominating the last several days of camp. Like, dominating. He's been a constant mismatch no matter who's been on him and his combo of size, athleticism and hands has made him unstoppable. I labeled that Peters' two-minute drive the "Daniel Barker Drive" because that's literally what it was. Had another two touchdown catches during 7v7 too. His route running and speed has clearly improved too.

The first team offensive line was very good today. LG Kendrick Green and LT Vederian Lowe opened up several huge holes on the left side of the line that went for long runs and those two have to do that for the time being since RG Jake Cerny is in at RT for the injured Palcho. Cerny hasn't stood a chance against DE Wole Betiku in pass pro. C and RG Doug Kramer and Richie Petibon did very well during 1v1s and held their end of the bargain during 11v11s. The O-line looked like the group it's supposed to be besides Cerny obviously. Another thing to note here is how Julian Pearl has really started to develop with his run blocking at RT. He's pulling really well and has had some noticeably big blocks. His pass pro is still, uh, a work in progress.

Defense:

Defensive line didn't provide much of a pass rush today at all. Betiku had a sack, but he was up against Cerny and that's just free cheese for him really. Run defense was good against outside runs, but there was hardly any containment of the B gaps, between the tackle and guards. That's where all of today's big runs came from. Lowe and Green were sealing folks off with ease. Basically the D-line looked like how it performed all of last week, which is poorly. Even though he had a sack, Betiku was a big culprit of losing his B gap containment because he wants to go wide off the edge (loves to try and show off his bend) and try and get after the QB and he fails to recognize the run as a result. Then Lowe would just seal him off. I saw this happen on numerous occasions. Haven't seen much of anything from DE Isaiah Gay this camp and that's an issue. I think he will do some things during the season, but you'd like to see a hint of something from him during 11v11. His 1v1 reps aren't bad and he's been the only one to beat Lowe during 1v1s.

LB Tarique Barnes was everywhere today. Solid job against the run and was really good in coverage. He dropped a pick from Robinson that he wishes he could've had back. Shammond Cooper had a really good first 11v11 session. He made a play on all three downs as he really showed off his sideline-to-sideline speed. He's been repping at MLB and he'll fit the role perfectly once he puts on some weight. Milo Eifler had a sack today when he came blazing from the slot area into the backfield. He disguised it perfectly and showed off his wheels getting to the QB. He couldn't show off the wheels in coverage however as he gave up those big passing plays to Barker. Barker also beat S Tony Adams today too.

CB Quan Martin almost had a really sick play today when he nearly leaped over WR Ricky Smalling to try and pick a slant pass. He broke it up instead and it literally looked like Martin was standing on top of Smalling. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it was pretty sweat. Witherspoon has a couple PBUs his first day of camp.

And that's it from Day 12 of camp. Offense was the better squad today. Two minute drills were awesome and the run game and offensive line dominated like it should. Will be back out there for the last day of open training camp.

Any questions?
