This was mentioned over on Grange Grove. I would hate to see a former Illini subjected to the smear machine. Hopefully the Eye of Sauron will be focused on other nominees and he'll be treated honestly and respectfully through the process. I know nothing about his political and related views, but will congratulate him anyway.

Pritzker was talking tough for a while too--if you come for my people, you come through me. But that rhetoric seems to have softened to more of a passive resistance (though I'm not paying close attention). Saw on Nexdoor.com that US CBP was active in the Rockford area last night, at least in the skies, but no idea what was going on. So far the Central American gangs don't seem to be too active around here.
If the numbers are to be believed there are about 2M people who have either had their asylum request adjudicated/denied and deportation ordered by the courts, or are already known to be criminals in their home countries. Hopefully they can at least get most of those removed in this term without undue civil strife.

I've followed her career fairly closely. Once she hit the scene as Florida's AG. One of the complaints about her from gun-toting Billy Clanton types is that she defended Florida's law that prohibits people from openly carrying weapons. That's a complaint? That's exactly the job of an Attorney General. I don't mind open carry, but there isn't anything wrong with concealed carry provided the licensing isn't prohibitive. Adding to that, She supports "stand your ground laws". She is opposed semi-automatic weapons bans.
The only thing that could possibly be a negative regards the aftermath of Parkland. Rick Scott was the Gov when she was AG. They (Scott and FL legislature) raised the gun purchase age limit to 21. That same law introduced a "Red Flag" law. More about the red flag law of Florida here-

Hopefully they just get Justice back to pursuing crime and avoiding politics. It is going to be a difficult task to try to right this ship.
