Recruiting. All this Xs and Os bs is ridiculous...it just doesn't matter that much at the major college level. Yes, you need to know what you are doing as a coach but the vast majority of those guys do. It all comes down to who has the talent.

If you have good players at every position you'll make the dance. A couple great players and the chips fall your way and you are in the final four.

If you have average players, or if you have some good players but also have to fill a couple weak spots with non-D1 guys, then you'll be an average team.

Beilein was gods gift to coaching the last couple years when he had the talent. This year, not so much. Show me a great team any year in any league and I'll show you great players on that team, not average players with a great coach.

That's why I still think Groce is the guy. He has what it takes to be a really good recruiter and eventually will get over the hump. He's done it before, recruiting at the highest level at OSU. The "near misses" he's had at the PG spot are maddening, but the fact he's gotten that close with 3 or 4 of the most coveted PG prospects in the country tells me he will land one sooner rather than later. With JCL coming, another great shooter in Jordan and the players already here, I truly think we're one really good PG away from being a top 25 team.

Just one fans opinion, but the Xs and Os talk is nonsense. Get the players and all the sudden Groce's coaching abilities will magically improve. it comes down to if you think he'll get the players he needs and I think he will. Others disagree and that's fine, but I think he'll get 2 more years to prove he can do it. Time will tell.
