Chasing Summer’s Headlines

Under Biden's admin, all coal fired plants were scheduled to close. I remember reading about a key one in New Hampshire and the predictions of brown outs if it closed. I just checked and the Merrimack Station plant is still scheduled to close in June 2028.

The utilities through out New England still have natural gas plants so they have some capacity for reliable electricity but as they eliminate their coal plants and replace them with solar/wind, they probably will have brown outs.

The liberals need the Dems to take control of the Federal govt so they can get subsidies and handouts to make this all work. I'm increasingly realizing that the Federal deficit is partially because of badly run states sucking at the Federal till. Trump has started changing the game and some federal judges, left wing media, and the Dems are going crazy. The Republicans need to win in 2026/28 if we ever are going to see the cycle broken.

FWIW, apparently the SF Mayor and Dem congressman are pushing back on the grading for equity in SF schools. (However, LA and other school districts already have versions implemented.) One thing that may be unique about SF is they have a sizable population of rich tech people, many of asian/indian descent. Academics are important to these folk and grading for equity is participation trophies for all.
