Figured this might be a fun discussion to have after the Archie Miller thread. How would you rank the Big Ten coaches? Not just strictly in-game coaching but every responsibility a power 5 coach has. Here's my list:
1. Tom Izzo
2. John Beilein
3. Matt Painter
4. Chris Holtmann
5. Marc Turgeon
6. Archie Miller
7. Brad Underwood
8. Fran McCaffery
9. Chris Collins
10. Tim Miles
11. Greg Gard
12. Richie Boy
13. Steve Pikiell
14. Pat Chambers
Gard is the biggest wild card. I'm not sure he's the type of coach that can take a program out of the gutter but has kept Wisconsin at a winning level. I think 5-9 are all close. Turgeon is interesting because those fans seem to hate him but that's probably typical when you take over for the guy who won a title. You could probably say I'm too generous with Underwood's ranking from what's happened the past couple years but I wouldn't choose any of the coaches under him on this list to coach here over him.
Thoughts?
