Nothing surprising about the study. Sad to say, anyone paying attention knew it worked because of how mindlessly opposed to it the machine was. There was no real money to be made with it.

Yep. Thanks for confirmation. I thought the sentiment expressed in the tweet was just raw emotion and not logical.
The long-term solution would require voters to be very discerning in who they elect--people who are willing to act to diminish the power of the government they get elected to be part of.
This country is chock full of non-discerning people. If we required people to pass a really basic civics and Constitution test, our voter rolls would be greatly diminished and probably for the better.
