My wife flew back from Seattle 10 days ago. On the way back on the first flight, as they were getting ready to land the plane the pilot suddenly aborted the landing and pulled up to come back around. The pilot said there was another plane on the runway.

On the second leg of the trip, the exact same thing happened.

I have only had that happen once on a landing and it was on a private plane coming into Schaumburg.

I am glad they are looking at all of these people put in position the last few years, but how long does that take?

John had TWO flying emergency instances while a Pilot in the USN ! Life threatening both times !!

1. He had just completed his first SOLO flight and has landed and was about to exit the active runway. He looked about and to his horror saw that a C-130 was in final approach to land on his runway. A C-130 is HUGE compared to his little solo plane. John sped up and was able to turn off the active runway to a turn ramp.

He was in the Officer's Club celebrating his solo with classmates. He got into a talk with an experienced Pilot and they asked each other what the most terrifying thing had ever happened to them.

The Pilot told John it has just happened that day. An ATC trainee had sent his C-130 to land on a runway and as he was just about to land he noticed a plane on the runway where he was about to land !

John said that was ME !!! And that is my scariest moment too !!!
