Sounds like Congress is pushing for more mediocrity.
I haven't had this issue come up in my practice recently, but it is and has been the law for quite a long time that conviction of ANY crime subjects the criminal alien to deportation. That is federal law. city/state law has no bearing on that. Sanctuary cities/states only alter that by not voluntarily notifying INS when a conviction occurs. If and when INS finds out they will deport.They argue that it's already the law, and it's redundant. I don't think that's true because of sanctuary city/state BS, but I could be wrong.
