..and in other news

The ACTUAL point is that MULTIPLE places in America have or have had events that are either manmade or weather made. There is usually nothing that can be done at THE time of the event, because mankind doesn't do the type of advance planning that eliminates all types of risk. Not even gangs that don't exist per Governors, Mayors, and Police Chiefs !

Winds are not a natural DISASTER, until people AND politicians ignore their potential for danger.

No one is saying we should or can eliminate all types of risk. I said we should mitigate our risk by spreading it out.

Wind storms are absolutely a natural disaster. I can’t believe people liked this post.

That’s all he does… just like he made up that the Santa Ana winds have NEVER reached hurricane-force before….
He’s a complete libtard
WOW, you internet surfers know more than experts on every topic. I don't recall saying never, I think the conversation was that you can't fight a fire in hurricane winds. The people, and fire experts, are still saying they have never had Santa Ana winds like last week. So what is your point? There might have been a gust of wind on a mountain over 100 miles per hour? DUH!

You very clearly didn’t understand BigWill’s point about the wind and disaster. California ignored the winds and followed the environuts, as an example. With proper ground cover management and water system/reservoir management, it would be highly unlikely to have been anywhere near the disaster it is. The disaster was largely man-made due to failure to acknowledge the dangers that would occur from the natural, annual weather patterns.

He said every place in the country had the same issues. He equated Denver and its gang/snow issues (we don’t have snow issues) with California and Florida dealing with storms off the ocean. That’s silly, different parts of the country have different national disaster risks. We should talk about that and plan accordingly.

When did you create strawmen like stonedhead? I addressed your quote that quoted a specific comment from BW. You misinterpreted it. We aren’t going to do anything. We should stop sending money to foreign countries before taking care of our own poor, clean up our cities, and completely shut the borders. The government already owns the land your house is on. If you don’t pay your property tax, eventually you don’t have your house. You are renting the land.

Your government that you didn’t vote against wanted everyone on the electrical grid with all driving EV’s. They also want farming eliminated and pushed to eliminate small towns. The left want the serfs controlled and living in megacities.

The Fed govt has no business in our business. We live where we live. I thought you said you were a Republican. Very strange to want more government and more government control of our lives and what we can do, if so.

A lot of X posters are making the wrong choice on this one. Really sad. The correct answer is #2.

I want common sense, I’ve said that for a long time. I don’t want us bailing out areas like Southern California at 100%, when we should actually be discouraging people from building there again. Humans have moved for hundreds of years. We shouldn’t just have people rebuilding in sensitive areas because they are lazy and will count on the govt to bail them out again.

I don’t want bigger govt. That’s why I want better decision making so the big bad govt isn’t rebuilding sensitive areas every handful of years. It’s not sustainable.

A long time before the next congressional elections even. Will these Wokies actually remember the lesson learned?

I was under the impression we want the same things. Live where you want, but you are taking on the risk. If insurance companies say your area is uninsurable, the fed govt is not going to bail you out. Put pressure on people to make good decisions. Nothing has to be done by force.

I wouldn’t think people in middle America would want to continue subsidizing the rich living along the coasts, but I learn something new every day. As your post about $5 million shows, people are idiots.

2023 - we aren’t teaching the trans topic to kids. That’s crazy, and you’re crazy.

2024 - we aren’t teaching the trans topic to kids

2025 - of course we are teaching the trans topic to kids. If you oppose that, you are a transphobe.

Man, the left moves quickly.

Middle America shouldn’t be subsidizing the coasts. You have a correct issue. Your solution is not the right one.

You think the fed govt should continue bailing people out who choose to live in uninsurable areas?

What is the solution?

Your first question is completely stupid, which is why I am not responding to you on this topic any further. Start brainstorming. You’ve presented one idea. There are many more possibilities.

Let’s look at the substance abuse issues of others in our govt. I don’t remember Kaine being curious about the cocaine in the White House.

But that is what we are doing now. How is that a stupid question? It needs to be addressed.

I would like to hear yours. Can you give me something other than incentivizing people to move to less vulnerable areas?

Obviously there needs to be better care of those vulnerable areas. One look at those trails from GoPro cameras shows they haven’t been maintained. But we need to do more than just maintain trails and thin out the forests. We need a holistic look at what we are doing long term. People like Musk are thinking big picture, hopefully they have big ideas.

We were stuck at the Denver side of the Loveland Pass one year heading for Steamboat, by guess what ?

SNOW.

Gangs in the Denver area are clear and present dangers to the residents in Denver areas controlled by gangs.

This person is a friend of Slick Willie, one of the most disgusting persons to inhabit the Oval Office AND ACCEPTED his conduct to be Swillieries VP candidate.

READ, I posted a long and comprehensive list that will reduce the threat of wind and fire.

I could have gone on with more ways to reduce the risk with NO reduction of populations in areas of risk.

Ya, that’s 60 miles from Denver, more than an hour away. Loveland Pass is at 12k feet. It gets 400+ inches of snow each year. I hope you researched that before endangering people on the road. I’d love to have a long conversation about how those areas are completely different and should be treated differently.

The gangs aren’t a natural disaster. They are a disaster fueled by horrible policy, and a failure to prosecute criminals. Denver has created that issue with bad policy, it has absolutely nothing to do with natural weather.

This guy is an example of what is wrong with Denver. Stabbed a handful of people, killing 2, this weekend at the 16th St mall in DT Denver. Arrested several times, never given a stiff penalty.

Really sad what has happened to this city/state. Poor governance, much like California.

That isn’t what you’re doing. You specifically misrepresented my post with your first question. Now go look into why the insurance companies pulled out of California. That’s one of the reasons the tax payers are footing the bill as of today. Correct conservation techniques, dams remaining built and water not being diverted is a second. Incompetence of politicians, the diverting of re$ources to cover the sanctuary policies, as opposed to paying for a properly equipt and ready fire department. Add in giving equipment away to Ukraine and now you get what you got.

The correct answer is to fix those issues. The owner of the LA Times is likely going to make sure candidates are competent. Newsom is done politically. Bass is toast. It is essential for Congress to pass and Trump to sign a voting bill that requires the counts to be done by 3 hours after polls are closed. That’s the change needed in California to protect middle americans from paying for dumb stuff. And it doesn’t even take the government over reach you wanted to fix it.

The NJSP lowered and reduced standards for women and short men/women.

1. Reduced height minimums to below 5' 10", weight to under 150 to be accepted into the cadet academy.
2. Boxing requirements were changed for headgear, size of gloves, no ill matched boxers as to sex, skill level, size. All matches filmed. NO female can box against ANY male.
3. 5 mile run changed from 35 minutes pace to 40 minutes. Sneakers rather than paratrooper jump boots. Hand carry bottles of water. No longer run in step. No longer automatic dismissal if you drop out of the daily run !
4. All teaching of police judo, self defense, handcuffing and other police drills are against like size opponents.

The reputation of the NJSP has carried these people along still. (The long yellow leg stripe is electric ! Touch a Trooper and you'll get a SHOCK ! )

Denver; "Snow AND GANGS !" Maybe like Callie we should add politicians !

Interesting comment considering how bad the policies are in California that actually created the Palisades disaster.

IIRC, the LA times endorsed Bass for Mayor AND it was the NEW ownership ! As of the other day a recall petition had 150,000 signees on Bass. Newscum has previously survived a recall petition.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts. I want the govt to intervene where they should, and get better, instead of repeatedly doing the things they have done. I hope you are right about the future candidates of California, but again, have serious doubts.

California is run by the Democrat machine…..the policies are intended to subvert fair elections

The pulling out of Callie is their CORRECT reading of the DIRECT ACTIONS of the politicians to ignore the risks in failing to correct or improve the fire fighting in Callie.

What have the politicians done to reduce risk ? NOTHING !

Starting with the Voters !

You would be correct in saying that the ENTIRE State has increased risks !
