..and in other news

It’s hilarious that the person who lives in the state with some of the most human trafficking in the country tells me I’m the one being manipulated.

Of course he also thinks 15 year olds forced into prostitution aren’t really forced.

I believe that they are uncovering some instances of cover ups of migrant rape in Europe. If this is the case, do we know how big the problem is.

It is kinda like the Biden Admin bushing the crime numbers and correcting them years later. Who really knows what the truth is?

Crime numbers went up big in 2020-22, dropped in 2023, and cratered in 2024. There are good ways to track it that aren’t the FBI (whose system should be better going forward but had real problems a few years ago).

All of this related to Covid anyhow. Fortunately that is passed.

I am guessing we would prefer Central America as you pointe out. With that said, we are seeing incidents of rape/ murder from that area. Probably not as large of a problem as the Muslim Asia or N Africa, but any indication it could become a problem should be met with swift legislation to combat any potential problem. I believe your new party disagrees.

Not sure when I became a Dem. Am sure I don’t support Trump. Seem like different things tho.

I agree, the US cannot have an open southern border. Being able to vet a moderate amount of lower skill immigration seems like a good path to me, but no one is listening.

I am not high on immigrants from Islamic cultures in the Middle East and areas in that border the region. At least low skill ones. Neither is Europe at this point, tho the British situation is different.

Well, ya, you’re an idiot.

Drive 10 mph over the limit in Wyoming, and you’re getting a ticket. They have nothing to do and go after minor crime. Go an hour and a half south to Denver and you will never, ever get pulled over for a similar crime.

If people don’t think blue cities allow people to get away with more than small red towns, they aren’t willing to have a real conversation. Everyone who has lived in both urban and rural areas understands this.

Public marijuana use is another easy example. People aren’t getting arrested for smoking weed in public in big cities. Try that in a small town and you are getting arrested.
Public joint smoking is ANOTHER entirely different discussion to have, but not here on short posts !

Speeding is a problem for your DL and your ability to drive.

My best advice is not speed OR purchase and use a quality radar detector ! BUT the detector will NOT work if the Officer is paying attention with his type of speed detection; VASCAR (No radar), K-55 (has an off/on switch for emitting a detectable beam ), Visual (guesses from experience), stop watches (usually aerial), There's more !

My sneakiest was on the divided 6 (3x3) lanes on the Turnpike. Car on the inside was speeding 80 +/65, with radar det on (It was night and I could see the glow ) . He slowed and I switched my unit off. He sped up and I switched on, we went back and forth several miles. I finally stopped him and gave him a 85+/65 using certified speedometer, NOT radar !

We've been back and forth about your using ESTIMATES OF ESTIMATES. There is NO national data bank using actual ALL crime committed in the ENTIRE USA.

"...should be better going forward ( There is nothing that shows that to be accurate.), but had real "problems" (italics added) a few years ago." (Italics added).

There is no factual evidence that Wuhan Flu was responsible for added crime. I suggest the reason is not specifically known, but I believe it is recidivism of released criminals and illegals.

The rape rings in England were real. Typically it was highly vulnerable young women (foster kids, runaways, etc.). People that the police weren’t making a priority because they didn’t care and to some extent were afraid of backlash related to going after immigrants (and frankly Britain has not fostered an open dialogue on the downsides of immigration, which is part of what’s spawning the entire debate).

There’s some definite domestic political implications in Britain too, I have suspicions what they are.

I also like Kimi Badenoch generally, but I have zero doubt she’s taking political advantage of a situation no one in the current government is really responsible for.

Patrick I’m sorry you about whatever has gone wrong in your life.

I admit it … I’m not interested in fake debates over real sex crimes in England that happened 15 or so years ago. So Elon can suck up to MAGA and distract from his recent aspostasies.

I’ve added you to my mute list to save time. I tried because I thought you might listen. But nah … few do.

Dtrain79 out!
Yet you post on it....

You just admitted Hillary used the false info and spread it, yet you think the person who originally said that did not say the truth.
Oh now I see your problem, can't read. I said nothing about it being false. Only Trump and his lemmings say it is false. I said Rubio started it and Clinton took it over. Big difference for those who can reason.

HRC injected the Steele Dossier into the veins of the corrupt FBI that used it to get a FISA warrant and all you can say is "Rubio started it"? Makes sense.

When you started voting for them? I thought you said on here when you used to post in here that you identified more them or something like that.

I don’t consider myself a member of either party. I did vote for one Dem on my ballot this year, the second D vote I’ve ever cast in a federal race.

I don’t blame you for tucking your tail and running. You always try to minimize things that are going on. A couple months ago you told me I was wrong about the Venezuelan gangs because local politicians were trying to keep people from noticing.

Shockingly, they are still menacing, torturing and extorting people. Similarly, there is a lot of human trafficking (yes, including kids) here, and people turn a blind eye. Better to just act like it’s not going on, and call people crazy.

You and the other genius on here thought it was just a bad landlord, lol. Word on the street is one of the victims had her fingernails forcibly removed during the torture.

I’m not testing this theory BW, just stating the obvious. You are more likely to get caught doing the same crime in a small red town compared to a big blue city. People walk around Denver smoking weed all the time. Go to a small red town and that doesn’t happen. The cops will arrest you.

Same thing with driving. You drive 10 over on I-95 on the East Coast and no one blinks an eye. Do it in rural Wyoming, Missouri, etc, and you are getting a ticket if you go by an officer. This stuff is common sense to most people. Probably not to the same people that stayed off the roads for 2 years and lied about their kid’s school being closed for that duration.

Simplistic thinking formed in your youth? No wonder you are OCD on immigrants and how crowded is Florida in the summer.

Stop trying to be tough, Patrick. I have no interest in dumb takes. You literally misquote me 3x above. I'm not tucking tail and running by not subjecting myself to hysteria and idiocy.

Understanding that the USA has 340M people and bad things are going to happen is not "minimizing things." Not caring about relitigating a child exploitation story from a decade plus ago in another country is not supporting child rape. Only stupid, bad faith people on the Internet make these types of arguments. I long hoped you didn't want to be one of those folks - but alas I was entirely wrong.

The truth is that 2024 was - 100% as I predicted - a great year for improvement in social indicators across the USA. Crime (and not just homicide) was down considerably, homicide taking the biggest drop (generally murders seem most variable based on the crime situation, yet another reason to focus on them). OD deaths finally started dropping, and they plunged. Inflation started abating, tho there are future risks. The economy remained generally strong. I agree with your commentary that the Biden border policies have created issues in places not equipped to deal with them - and Denver is a prime example.

Again, there is simply no point in me debating current events here. I have muted most of the folks in the chain because I learn nothing from them, and almost none of them listen - not to my opinion but to actual facts. And their main focus (not yours) is whether one supports Trump - which I do not and never will. Unlike most of the news sources, I shoot straight and will change my opinion where I'm wrong. The problem is that, my view in late 2023 ended up having a banner year in 2024 - but no one cared because there was an election to win. As I've repeatedly said, it won't be long until Trump is trumpeting the same items I'm pointing out above, he's taking over a situation that has seen rapid improvement as Covid faded.

Warning: rant follows.

Lazy Journalism. Apparently WAPO wrote an article about a church in N Hollywood (LA) that a Fox online reporter paraphrased and posted on Fox. I can't read the WAPO original but this Fox version stinks. A few annedotes lifted from WAPO, some inserted stats on what percent of the voters in LA voted for Trump, and an implication that somehow Trump's performance has something to do with people leaving this church. It was a stupid article even before he inserted the mention of Trump.

If you study what he lifts from WAPO, this church is part of the Disciples of Christ, a mainstream protestant denomination. If you go to their website, they are a liberal activist denomination. However searching further, their local churches are self governing, meaning the denomination doesn't interfere too much.

So what really happened? Until recently, this local church was led by the same person for 52 years, who never talked about politics. Meanwhile the national denomination was moving left and training up "reverends" to be liberal activists. The new pastor who is quoted several times is obviously an activist and does talk politics. So the long term relationships built despite political differences suddenly are put at odds in a church setting. Republicans don't want to be forced to watch movies about "Christian Nationalism" and apparently some of the Dems objected to other members attending the inauguration.

What the article should have communicated is that once a denomination starts preaching politics and taking a side, people who don't agree will move on. Instead the headline is: "Local church struggles to be neutral as members leave over political differences". The reverend is doing what he was trained to do and promulgating the liberal theology of the denomination.

ps. this denomination had 2 million members in the 1950's and now is down to 300,000, with less than 100,000 actively attending services per Wikipedia. Sounds like WAPO will soon need to get new sources for these articles.
