You drive through a small red county going 8 mph over the speed limit and you are getting pulled over and getting a ticket. Rob the local CVS and you are going to get arrested.
Go to a big blue city and do the same thing and nothing happens. No crime recorded. Heck, I can drive 30 over and I’m not getting pulled over unless I get in an accident. Even then, a police officer probably isn’t coming.
I learned this when I was 16 and my Dad talked to me about driving through small towns in Central Illinois. It’s true to this day. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this. It impacts the data significantly.
I've owned several Diesel mv's, back when diesel was cheaper than gas. Great cars very little maintenance issues.
Range was good, my Excursion would go from Atlantic Ocean to Columbus Ohio on one tank (That's over 600 miles !)

The NJSP act as both local law enforcement and Interstate and Toll roads in NJ. Troopers on Toll roads could be responsible for as much as 100 miles or as little as 10 depending on # of patrols or traffic conditions.....or.....you could be assigned to a local county of over 50-60 square miles.
You have very little chance of being stopped and ticketed either way.
Are you feeling lucky today ? Some States gain significant revenue for tickets: Speeding fine, Court costs, DL surcharge for DL renewal, MV insurance rates. All for getting to Grannies 10 minutes earlier !

Drive 10 mph over the limit in Wyoming, and you’re getting a ticket. They have nothing to do and go after minor crime. Go an hour and a half south to Denver and you will never, ever get pulled over for a similar crime.
If people don’t think blue cities allow people to get away with more than small red towns, they aren’t willing to have a real conversation. Everyone who has lived in both urban and rural areas understands this.
Public marijuana use is another easy example. People aren’t getting arrested for smoking weed in public in big cities. Try that in a small town and you are getting arrested.

First, continental Europe is currently more restrictive on immigrants than the US. Europe has mostly decided the immigration project from 2015-17 has failed.
Second, this story is actually from a decade back (but the conduct at issue was committed even earlier).
Third, there are real questions about where you want migrants from on a cultural level. Almost everyone involved in the bad conduct here was Pakistani (Muslim) in origin. Immigrants from Central America are not like immigrants from Muslim Asia and North Africa, even tho both tend to be poor and less skilled. I am personally quite skeptical of much immigration from the belt of Islam across Central Asia and North Africa.
Fourth, Elon Musk takes a lot of you for suckers. A week ago MAGA was mad at him for supporting H-1B. Now he’s recycling a story from years ago to go after less skilled immigrants, all the better it’s not demonizing anyone in the US. What a great move by him.
I never ever thought the right had such idiots that they’d be so blind to constant manipulation by a handful of leaders, but then again with the changes in our politics maybe they didn’t used to have them.

I am guessing we would prefer Central America as you pointe out. With that said, we are seeing incidents of rape/ murder from that area. Probably not as large of a problem as the Muslim Asia or N Africa, but any indication it could become a problem should be met with swift legislation to combat any potential problem. I believe that they are uncovering some instances of cover ups of migrant rape in Europe. If this is the case, do we know how big the problem is.
