..and in other news

Good grief. This is grasping at straws like I've rarely seen. Who would think Trump would nominate the top Republican on the FCC as the next chairman of the FCC? And a 27 year old White House press secretary who appeared in a video titled "The Art of Professionalism"? That sure sounds like some neo-Nazi thing.
We'll know for sure when Trump places his hand on a copy of Project 2025 instead of the Bible when he takes the oath.

J.D. Vance, vice-president

Throughout the campaign, Vance attempted to distance the ticket from Project 2025, but the vice-president-elect is a prominent ally of the Heritage Foundation

I think JD Vance probably wrote it. The Stonedax really cracked the code here 🤣 🤣

I wonder if they can call him before a Federal Grand Jury under a Grant of Immunity to testify and get him in a perjury trap ?

I did once and nothing happened ? (Testified truthfully !)
Neither to me nor the invest.

J.D. Vance, vice-president

Throughout the campaign, Vance attempted to distance the ticket from Project 2025, but the vice-president-elect is a prominent ally of the Heritage Foundation and a longtime friend and collaborator with foundation president and Project 2025 architect Kevin D. Roberts. Vance wrote the foreword for Roberts’s upcoming book, Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington to Save America. In the foreword, Vance has nothing but praise for Roberts and the Heritage Foundation, calling the think tank “the most influential engine of ideas for Republicans from Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump”:

In October, a Vance spokesperson insisted that the foreword “has nothing to do with Project 2025,” and Vance has said that “there are some good ideas” in the proposal as well as “some things I disagree with.”
Vance additionally has ties to Project 2025 co-author Oren Cass and project contributor Elbridge Colby. He also wrote the introduction for a 2017 report from the Heritage Foundation that put forward an expansive policy agenda to restrict sexual and reproductive freedoms.

Russell Vought, Office of Management and Budget director

Trump has nominated Russell Vought to return the role he held in the first Trump administration, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. Vought is one of the architects of Project 2025, and he wrote the Mandate for Leadership’s Executive Office chapter, which proposes a sweeping transformation of the federal bureaucracy to eliminate the independence of federal agencies and consolidate and expand the president’s executive power. The introduction of the chapter has a revolutionary tone, explaining that “The overall situation” of the executive branch “is constitutionally dire, unsustainably expensive, and in urgent need of repair. Nothing less than the survival of self-governance in America is at stake.”
Copy, PasteVought is a proponent of slashing, impounding, or reallocating government spending without congressional approval, as well as firing scores of career government employees and replacing them with political appointees. The think tank Vought founded, Center for Renewing America, has put out numerous proposals recommending authoritarian presidential power grabs, including using recess appointments to avoid congressional oversight, ending the Department of Justice’s tradition of political independence, and deploying the military to quell social unrest on U.S. soil. The think tank is also one of Project 2025’s advisory groups.

Hunter would have to answer a subpoena to come before a Federal Grand Jury, and have to testify because the Pardon would prevent him using the Fifth Amendment because he has been pardoned for crimes 11 years previously, current crimes AND future crimes !

So there is no issue of his self-incrimination, as long as the new investigation was within the pardons scope !

Am I close ?

I think you're correct. Joe Biden has immunity as president but not for anything as VP, if I'm understanding this right.

The president of S Korea just rescinded martial law after the legislature voted against it. Lasted maybe 12 hours 0r less.

He is in a bind because he was elected with less than 1% plurality in 2021 and his party lost badly in midterm lections earlier this year. The opposition is blocking pretty much everything he wants to do (Chuck Schumer would be proud) and his popularity is in the toilet. Also, lots of legal maneuvering and charges of corruption on both sides.

So did he misinterpret the military's willingness to support martial law and immediately backtracked when there was no support (he had to know they would vote against it and per S Korea law that cancels martial law -- unless the military decides different). I hope some enterprising journalist does a post mortem as so far it looks pretty reckless and stupid. Resignation usually follows but who knows.

Final tally for the House is 220 Republican and 215 Dem. The last house seat in California is a flip to Dem as the curing process eventually got him to a 187 vote victory. Mailing a ballot to every registered voter and then allowing weeks of partisan curing is what happens in a supermajority state where the ruling party wants to stay in power.

Florida has elections for their 2 House seats on April 1. I don't think NY has announced what they are doing. I also don't know if the 2 Republicans still in office can vote up until they are confirmed for their new positions in the Trump Administration. Either way it is going to be tight.
